Year 8 History Full SOW 2016-17 (2 year KS3)

This is the 2016-17 Scheme of work which has been produced for Y8. The lessons I plan and sell on here correspond perfectly with the SOW. This is a SOW which has been honed, changed and improved over my years of teaching. The SOW offers a week by week breakdown (using 2016/17 dates) of each lesson (based on a 2 lesson a week average). It is easy and comprehensive for the non specialists to use and works well for us keeping track as we have many split classes in lower school. Suggested homeworks included and a column to enter the annual data collections can be added which can make planning assessments easier. Lessons for this SOW can be bought in bulk as well as individually. Please message me any requests if I havent yet uploaded any units and I will endeavour to upload them ASAP.

I publish a new 20 question quiz weekly during term time; This bundle of quizzes were created for the month of September, however they can be used at any date as the questions are not time/season dependent. I love doing a weekly quiz with my tutor group at the end of the week on a Friday morning - so its a great activity to start in formtime as we go back to school for the start of the new academic year! There are 20 general knowledge questions in each quiz varying from geography to history, science. maths, literacy and world trivia. Weeks 1 & 3 are general knowledge Q&A format whereas Weeks 2 & 4 are multiple choice format. The answers are provided across 2 slides at the end of the quiz - each answer is revealed per click. I would recommend for this quiz students get into groups of no more than 4 and the activity should take no longer than 15 minutes to complete. Please keep an eye out for my weekly quizzes and review/leave feedback if possible. Also if you prefer the terminology ‘form time’ to ‘tutortime’ then I have provided an alternate title you can swap in at the side of slide 1 on the Powerpoint. Queen Elizabeth II

I have quickly put together this resource to commemorate the life of Queen Elizabeth II. The intention of this resource is solely to share and discuss the Queens significant passing with tutor groups using this powerpoint and get students sharing their thoughts and feelings. The powerpoint covers a brief overview of the Queens early life up until her ascension and then looks at some of her successes and achievements as monarch. I have also included a link to CBBC Newsround at the end of the powerpoint as they have currently a video covering the Queens reign and news of her passing. The resource was created with secondary students in mind, however, that is not to say the content is not appropriate for younger audiences - the language may be a little tricky though. I hope this is helpful

Holocaust Memorial Day Assembly

(0)
This assembly resource has been created with KS3 and KS4 secondary students in mind to be delivered on Holocaust Memorial Day (27th January). This resource has been created on Microsoft Powerpoint Teacher Notes have been added to the notes section underneath each relevant slide on the Powerpoint to support with the delivery of the content. I am a history teacher and the content of this assembly resource is an extension of a type of activity that I would deliver to my history students when teaching the holocaust. This assembly resource offers a brief exploration using skills of inference of a historical artefact and relies upon student contributions through teacher questionning. A link to a Youtube video has been provided as part of this resource (please ensure you have access to youtube prior to use) This resource also makes reference to the 2024 Holocaust Memorial Day theme of ‘Fragility of Freedom’. The utmost care has been taken to ensure this resource has been created with the utmost respect to the victims of the holocaust and to ensure that students have the opportunity to connect and empathise to the human beings to whom the attrocities of the holocaust were committed. There a no images or corpses in this resource - however the murder of victims is discussed. I really hope you enjoy delivering this assembly and that your students find it engaging and valuable. If you are able to leave a review once you have taught it, I would be really grateful. Teaching Holocaust in history? Check out lessons from my scheme of work!
