This PowerPoint contains 10 slides on how to officiate Shot, Discus, Javelin, Long jump, Triple Jump for an A and B competition. These have been used to remind PE teachers of the main rules regarding throws/ no throws, sector lines, take off boards, foot on/ over line etc. These card have also been of some use for Analysis of Performance preparation for GCSE PE candidates. Price of this resource is only £1 as it may require some changes to be made to suit your sports day. Please note that these cards are mainly intended as reminders for PE teachers on sports day and not intended for use by non qualified athletics officials or non qualified PE teachers on sports day. How to teach and Outstanding Gymnastics Rotation/ Somersault/ Flight lesson (3 lessons)

I used this resource during a lesson observation recently and received an 'Outstanding' grade in all areas. The lesson allows high levels of stretch and challenge for ALL pupils as well huge amounts of personalised and differentiated learning. These aren't just buzz words it really does cater for all!!! I taught this to a high ability year 8 group with 23 in the class. I have used this successfully though with groups of up to 35 and lower ability groups. I will normally follow this lesson up with two more to give pupils the chance to further develop and refine their skills (lesson 2 will focus on pupil feedback/ back somersault and somersault in pike or half twist. Lesson 3 in developing sequence work and further pupil feedback.) This resource includes the lesson plan (Word) that I used and also come with a 16 page PowerPoint document that includes the following: Slide 1- Lesson objectives (I printed these out 4 times on A3 and put around the gym) Slide 2- Gym mat tidy away picture (Made this to ensure that pupils know exactly how to put mats away in a tidy fashion. As your storage area will be different you probably won't be able to use this but hoped this would be 'food for thought' Slide 3- Apparatus layout diagram (this can obviously be tweaked based on your available apparatus and gym layout) Slide 4- Starter task mindmap/ what you know about rotation. (This allows you to understand what knowledge your pupils have at the start of the lesson. The words at the bottom are a prompt for pupils. This is then revisited at the end of the lesson to show you AND the pupils how much progress has been made in their understanding) Slide 5- 12- Sheets for each area of apparatus that pupils can use independently. These include ways to make the movement/ skill easier or more difficult in order for pupils to access a suitable level of individual challenge. (In my lesson I started with area 1 as a warm up for all. Then opened up areas 2-5 after. Areas 6, 7 & 8 could only be accessed if the pupils showed enough control and consistency in all other areas. Slide 13- 16- 'Mr Men' and 'Little Miss' themed non doer activities (I put these into visitor lanyards for them to wear) If you are relatively inexperienced in gymnastics I would seek advice from other colleagues or video clips on Youtube about how to safely support pupils in a somersault (Don't be scared or put off by this, its much easier than you think! Only let beginners attempt a somersault when you feel confident to support them though) IF YOU PURCHASE THIS RESOURCE COULD YOU PLEASE LEAVE A REVIEW AND LET ME KNOW HOW YOUR LESSON GOT ON. ALL FEEDBACK IS WELCOME!!!

How to teach an Outstanding- Hurdles lesson (Beginners to Advanced) Lead, Trail and body action

(1)
This resource was used in my performance management lesson observation and enabled me to gain an Outstanding in every category. The lesson objectives of the lesson were: All pupils will understand their knowledge of hurdling technique and how they could make improvements to their hurdling technique. Most pupils will be able to develop their techniques using specific drills. Most pupils will be able to offer insightful evaluations into a partner’s technique. Please leave feedback on this resource so I can make improvements where needed This lesson is suitable to a range of abilities and the differentiation and independent nature of the lesson will allow for progress to be made by ALL pupils. Below is a guide to how to structure the lesson. I printed out enough booklets and had the front two pages laminated in order to re use. Task 1- Reinforce and develop hurdling technique knowledge- Highlight technical points of Perfect Model. Pupils complete task 1 of booklet to identify proper technique (resources differentiated and groups of pupils differentiated due to ability and behaviour). Task 2- Peer evaluation- Watch partner run over 4 hurdles 3 times. Resources are differentiated so lower ability pupils have less components to evaluate. Important that pupils identify a specific area to work on (Lead leg, trail leg or other body action (for high ability)) Task 3- Following the peer evaluation sheets the groups will then decide which area to develop (lead leg, trail leg or other body action) The group then use the drills pack to work on progressively more difficult drills to develop their area of technique. I find pupils get better at this task the more they use this style of teaching (persist with this, it will get better quickly!!) Task 4- Watch partners technique again and look at the area identified for improve. Have they improved and why, is there anything they should now focus on?

A Level PE Psychology Unit- Starter questions for each topic- UPDATED WITH 2016 PAPER

This resource has been updated to include the 2016 questions and mark scheme. I find this resource is great for using as starters, mini plenaries and plenaries. I usually using the Smart notebook option application to use a screen to cover the mark scheme whilst pupils work on the questions or you discuss and break down the question. Also great as a revision tool for pupils and lessons. This includes every 3 and 4 mark question from June 2010 and is arranged in topic order for ease. I have also include an answer sheet for each slide to annotate slides or get pupils to answer question directly on the board. This resource is flexible in its use and allows teachers and pupils to use in a variety of different ways. This will save you LOTS of time as this took me at least 5 hours of copying and pasting from past papers and into topic order
A Level PE Psychology Arousal Extended question planning scaffolding sheet- 14 marks

A Level PE Psychology Arousal Extended question planning scaffolding sheet- 14 marks

(0)
This is a planning template with scaffolding strategies used to help pupils plan and answer the extended question on arousal theories and somatic stress management techniques from summer 2012 paper. I use this resource alongside the homework booklet which is also uploaded on TES. These plans assist students with structuring their answer in a clear step by step process. Each sheet is differentiated with varying levels of help (3 different sheets of support). I have include the Catastrophe theory into the planning document despite it not being on the mark scheme as this may be included in future arousal exam questions. The Catastrophe theory is not in the exam mark scheme as this would make gaining top band (level 4) points, apparently too easy. These scaffolding sheets are used when I start teaching this topic area to give students an understanding of how to structure their answer and it reinforces the content nicely. The feedback from students using these is very positive. Once they have planned their answer, they then answer it in their homework booklet. IF YOU PURCHASE THIS ITEM, CAN YOU PLEASR REVIEW IT. THANKS.

This is a PowerPoint presentation that I have used during a webinar to inform next years, year 12 and 13 students and parents about the strict rules on recording evidence of practical coursework. In my experience, pupils really struggle with the demands of recording their practical coursework. This presentation aims to empower students and fill them with the knowledge and understanding of how to best show their performance for A Level moderation. The presentation was broadcasted via Zoom in mid July and includes a homework task to be complete over the summer. This presentation can be delivered to the students and include the notes I used to help me discuss the presentation with parents and students. ***If you use this presentation could you please leave a review and let me know how your students found the session***

The extended question from Summer 2013 asks, ''Sporting contests require the performer’s full commitment, both physically and psychologically. The performance of some individual’s can be hindered by over arousal. Explain, using appropriate psychological theories, the possible causes of aggressive behaviour during sports contests and suggest strategies a coach could use to develop the assertive behaviour of a performer.'' This differentiated resource allows pupils to develop their ability to plan and structure their answers. Each slide shows how to structure your answer using 5 steps. Once pupils have used these sheets 2-3 times, i find their ability to gain higher marks on new extended questions is much improved!!! PLEASE LEAVE A REVIEW IF YOU PURCHASE THIS RESOURCE.
