Expanding and Factorising! (Single and double brackets, Linear and quadratic equations)

Full bundle of ready to go lessons ! troduction of expanding and factorising brackets! I used these lessons with a middle ability year 9 class, but they could be used with any class who needs an introduction or recap into expanding and factorising single and double brackets! Each lesson includes: A starter,   learning objectives with progress tick slide, Examples to work through with the class, differentiated and colour coded questions WITH answers, plenary. Lesson 1: Expanding single brackets! Introduction of expanding single brackets and how to expand and simplify when there is more than one single bracket. Also includes a differentiated worksheet to challenge students and a simplifying expressions worksheet for any struggling students. Lesson 2: Factorising single brackets! Starts with a recap on finding factors in algebraic terms. Examples for factorising single brackets with differentiated questions. Finish lesson with factorising BINGO! Includes the bingo cards and checklist to call out. Lesson 3: Expanding double brackets! Starts with recap of expanding single brackets. Examples to work through with the class and differentiated questions with answers straight from expanding AND simplified. Lesson 4! Factorising quadratic equations! Starts with an activity to show how to find the sum and product of two numbers, then introduction into how to use those skills to factorise a quadratic. Plenary on factorising a quadratic with a square number. ALSO! Learning objective sheet to give as a consolidation activity or as a homework, with a question from each lesson and a self assessment RAGG for students to fill in! Hope you enjoy my lessons! Similar shapes, area and volume!

(4)
Hi Lessons on how to find and prove shapes are similar, with their areas and volumes! And how to find missing lengths, areas and volumes. I used these lessons with a middle ability year 10 class, but can be mixed about for any ability or age. All lessons include: 5 a day starter, differentiated questions WITH answers, animated, simple examples, plenary Lesson 1: Similar shapes. Explains the definition of similar shapes and how to prove they are similar by finding all angles and sides are the same. Examples of how to find an use scale factor to prove this. Independent questions for students to work on with an exam style question for extension work. I have also included some extra slides I did not get round to using on how to use ratio to find missing sides and name the shape game to finish off the lesson. Lesson 2: Finding area of similar shapes. Clear, simple, animated examples on how to use linear scale factor to find area scale factor and therefore missing areas of similar shapes. Worksheet included for students to work on individually, as well as questions which can be displayed on the board. Lesson 3: Finding volume of similar shapes. Extension from last lesson, using the linear scale factor to find the scale factor used for volume of similar shapes. Clear, simple, animated examples with worksheets for students to complete, as well as questions which can be displayed on the board. Includes extension on working backwards to find the linear scale factors from area and volume scale factor, and extra extension activities which I did not get round to using myself. Hope some of you find this helpful and it saves you some time and stress! If you like my resources or think there is something more I can do to make them better, please comment and rate! Thank you =]]!

Drawing and naming straight lines in the form y = mx + c!

(5)
Everyone knows that when it comes to teaching straight line graphs there is so much more preparation that needs to be done! But hopefully this helps some people out.. Here is a ready to go lesson on how to draw and name straight lines in the form of y=mx+c! I used this particular lesson with a middle set year 10 as more of a recap, but I have also used the same activities with KS3. It has a full powerpoint with animated instructions on what to do, but also includes, 2 to a page worksheets, with axes already drawn on, for drawing and naming the lines. All you have to do is print! If you like my lessons or think I could do more to make them better, please comment and rate =]!

Whole lesson ready to use on the introduction into Standard form. Used with middle set year 9, but can be edited to your needs. Includes learning objectives with tick sheet, differentiated questions with answers on changing numbers to standard form and vice versa. Moves from an introduction to writing standard form to calculating with standard form. Set up as two lessons but can be combined if needed.
