Revision Lessons for AQA Unit 1A: Russia 1894-1945: Tsardom and Communism that covers Key Issue 1 (The End of Tsardom) and Key Issue 2 (Lenin’s New Society)

2 x 1 hour lesson which includes a fun ‘rubix cube’ problem solving activity where students have to test their knowledge of the key events and key people of both key issues.

I have used these revision resources successfully with my Year 10 and Year 11 classes ahead of both their mock exams and the GCSE exams. There is a good element of challenge for the majority of students, as well as fun!

I recommend printing the blank rubix cube on A3 paper so students have enough space to annotate it.

Top tip: be sure to check a student’s ‘solved’ cube before allowing them to annotate it, they often get it wrong on the first go! (The answers are included on the next slide).

It’s also possible to bring in an element of competition by offering a prize to the first student to solve the rubix cube correctly.

Be sure to check out my other revision resources for the Russia course (KI1, KI2, KI3) and other units (1B Conflict & Tension and 2A Restoration).

I hope you find these resources helpful!
