Physics on a Page Pack - Last minute revision pages for separate and trilogy paper 1 and paper 2

(1)

I created this for my last couple of revision lessons with GCSE separate science physicists and for combined/trilogy physicists.
I’ve got a “physics on a page” (if you print double sided it makes one A4 page) per exam, for reading through. The idea is to condense the absolute essentials onto 1 page for a final review.

I’ve also made a “fill the gaps” version so that they can work through and just fill in, making sure students are engaging with the work. I’d also suggest using them for students to cut up/copy onto flash cards to make bitesize chunks of information

Christmas Quiz

For secondary school/sixth form - organised into rounds, to break it down.
All the answers are in the “notes” bit of the powerpoint. The music round - I just play clips online as I go along but the other 7 rounds should all be straightforward.
It is designed to last an hour (maybe more) so could be shortened for form times etc.

I have borrowed some questions from other quizzes to put all this together, so thanks for all who have shared.

Happy Christmas Quizzing :)

A-level Physics Edexcel Core Practical Skills Checklists

(0)

This is a resource I made for each of the 16 core practical activities for Edexcel A-level Physics to make it easier to record and evidence the CPAC practical skills. They are designed to support the students during the work by breaking down the skills being assessed into more specific tasks for the activity they are completing, making it easier for them to see what they should be doing to acquire the skills. Directly linked to the practical activities and the Edexcel use of the CPAC criteria, if students annotate as they complete the task and then the teacher observes and signs off, it should be simple to record and evidence the skills as students acquire them during the course

Physics on a page revision for AQA GCSE Physics Paper 1 - crib sheet

This is the content for paper 1 GCSE physics AQA condensed down to 2 sides of A4, so printed double sided it is “physics on a page”.
It is stripped back to the essentials - I use them just before the exams - to prompt reviews and cover key points. Also useful to give to students to plan their revision in advance
Physics on a page - separates
physics on a page combined is for trilogy students.

Working like a scientist A03 skills - scheme and resources

(0)

Working Like a Scientist - 10 lesson unit of work (including powerpoints and resources)
I designed and made these resources as an introduction to GCSE Science for the end of year 9 or start of year 10
The idea is to introduce some of the key language and skills needed for GCSE science, so that they can be referred back to during required practical work and built on over time.
The lessons are

Variables

Equipment and measurements

Safety

Planning and method writing
5, 6 and 7 - maths skills, including data handling
8, 9 - Graphs

Equations.

Each lesson can be standalone, but designed to run in series. There are worksheets and other activities.
Whilst I originally designed this for blended learning (partly online) and it worked very well across the ability range with Year 9, it would work even better if taught in a lab with examples of equipment, practicals and perhaps some mini investigations built in.

GCSE Physics Revision "How good is my answer"

A powerpoint containing fake “good” and “bad” answers to exam style questions. Focussed on electricity and electromagnetism (P2 and P7 in AQA GCSE)
Use with students to pick out key points that should be included and to show them what a good answer looks like. I suggest getting them to write their own perfect answers and making a “cheat sheet” for the topic to show what common sentences should be included for any questions on eg Motors as a follow up.

Forces and Motion Qs and scheme for foundation GCSE Sci

Practice questions on the equations of motion for building confidence with foundation groups - key activities and quiz focussed on recognising what the numbers mean using the units and practice substituting into the equations
I’ve also included here a scheme of learning powerpoint for the Forces unit of work for AQA suitable for use with foundation core groups. It has the equations and definitions on it to display for the class and some additional activities and questions linked to forces

GCSE Physics Revision Tasks:5-a-day facts

11 revision “cards”, each with five facts, definitions or equations on them.
Students can be given one card each week (there are different themes - energy, electricity, heat, power etc) and then spend five minutes a day, five times a week learning their physics “5-a-day”
I then test each week for recall. I’m sure there are lots of other ways to use them to!

Materials and Stress: Crunchie bars vs bones

(0)

Are crunchie bars as strong as bone under stress? A-level physics home learning activity.
A practical that can be completed at home using simple equipment to help A-level physics students develop an understanding of compressive stress.
The worksheet guides students through some measurements they can do at home using crunchie bars. There are also some analysis activities and practice at using the equation for calculating stress.

I designed this for my year 12 students to complete at home during lockdown. They’ve enjoyed doing it and got quite good results, so I hope your students enjoy too.

Note - this is a resource I created, but is based on a similar idea I found in an edexcel book

GCSE Physics Revision Quiz Sheets Bundle

(0)

This is a bundle of short revision activities for GCSE Physics (trilogy or separate). These could be used as quick revision starters or “Do it now” tasks throughout the year or use them all together in a revision quiz lesson.

To use as a quiz: Divide class into teams - the teams have to complete a sheet and then bring it up for marking - as you mark put the points score up on the board (excel spreadsheet perhaps or whiteboard). This keeps the pace fast - either have a set time per round or each team can complete at their own pace (with bonuses for finishing first).
