A Christmas Carol is a visual vocabulary bank for EAL students level A (New to English). It provides students with a picture dictionary of words associated with Christmas and practice opportunities to aid students’ understanding and put the novella into context. Having learnt and practised the keywords, students are introduced to grammar and sentence structure needed to write simple sentences describing rooms (link to Stave Three).
This resource features 21 characters in George Orwell’s Animal Farm. Ideally to be laminated and displayed.
The characterisation was intended to include characters’ attributes that will help students make links with historical figures and gauge the understanding of character’s personality traits.

This resource is aimed to develop the command of English for EAL students using George Orwell’s biography as a learning context. The complete bundle is scaffolded in such a way that it builds skills and language needed to access a short text about George Orwell’s life, followed by reading comprehension tasks and further language development activities. The complete bundle covers 26% of the total Animal Farm word count. The unit covers the following skills:

names of the months accompanied by activities and reading years

This resource is based on High Frequency Words in Animal Farm. Students are asked to translate the list of top 100 words in the novel using either a dictionary or Google Translate.
It is suitable for EAL levels A and B (New to English and Early Acquisition). This will equip the EAL learners with the glossary of 59% total word count of Animal Farm, including both lexical and function words.
Interactive resource for EAL students to familiarise themselves with the animal characters presented in Animal Farm by George Orwell.
