¿esto o lo otro? - this or that; spanish activity to practise speaking

(0)
Inspired on social media trends, this resource is made up of 5 sheets of paper with 60 everyday life items for students to practise comparisons. The idea is for students to first choose, in each instance, which item they prefer (e.g. sightseeing vs relaxing in the beach), then go through all of them together to have a more detailed chat. Items belong to a range of categories so that the conversations will touch up on food, holidays, seasons, etc. Activity is perfect to use as an ice-breaker or simply for general conversation.

Mira 1 - Module 4 En casa - Units 1-5

(0)
This bundle includes units 1 to 5 from Module 4 “En casa" in Mira 1. There are a range of activities to do, a lot more than what the textbook offers: extra readings, vocab tests, extra speaking, paragraph ideas, lots of starters and plenaries, printable vocabulary lists, etc. Look at the bottom of each slide to see any notes that might be relevant to understand what to do in a certain activity, extension ideas, etc. This is a breakdown of what you are getting: 1 ppt containing units 4.1 to 4.3 (= ‘Vivimos en Europa’ + ‘Como es tu casa?’ + ‘Las habitaciones’) together = 126 slides. 1 ppt containing unit 4.4 (‘En mi dormitorio’) = 75 slides. 1 ppt containing unit 4.5 (‘Que haces?’) = 58 slides.

introductions / presentaciones - 24 identity cards for oral production; Spanish beginners

(0)
24 different cards which include a character, their name, mood, age, birthday, where they live and number of pets they have. How to carry out this task: students get to walk around the classroom and ask each other the 6 basic questions (como te llamas, como estas, donde vives, etc) according to what they have on their card. Once done, they swap cards and move on to introduce themselves to a different peer. You can get students to do this in the first person or even in the third person if you want to work different verb endings. These cards are easily adaptable to any language and you can edit the information any time. Print in colour and laminate them, they will last you a lifetime. This activity was designed to go with Mira 1 as a recap of the first module once module 3 has been done as well (as that’s when pets are introduced).

PLONK - GCSE tips for writing and speaking

A Spanish version based on the PLONK technique (points, linking phrases, opinions, nifty grammar & knockout phrases) to help our students develop and perfect their language in exams. This has proved very useful for my GCSE students, but also for my A-level ones. If you look at the preview, you’ll hopefully get an idea of the sort of phrases you will find in this document. It contains 4 pages, 1 for linking phrases, 1 for opinions, 1 for nifty grammar and 1 for knockout phrases.

El presente perfecto - the Spanish perfect tense

Ppt presentation I created to collate some fun tried and tested activities to teach the perfect tense to KS4 students. It can be easily adapted to any ability group due to the nature of the activities. It provides an explanation of what it is (uses), time indicators, formation (endings) and main irregular forms. It then includes 4 different activities: a basic sentence translation activity, a never have I ever task to get your students standing up and down depending on whether they’ve done a number of things (18 in total), a differentiated die activity to do in pairs to conjugate verbs in the perfect tense or take it a bit further and ask each other questions based on the given verbs, and finally a list of 26 things students might have or might have not done before they finish school, to practise “ya” and “aun no”. tiempos pasados: preterito e imperfecto - actividad interactiva

(0)
quick interactive activity we can give our students to do individually to consolidate the difference between the preterite and the imperfect tenses in Spanish. The reason for this activity to be done individually is because it has explanations (formation, uses…) on the slides that students can click on if they’re stuck. See preview for options.
AQA AS El patrimonio musical - question trails activity

AQA AS El patrimonio musical - question trails activity

(0)
A competitive reading activity called question trails to make reading more fun. This question trails exercise is based on a text on Afroperuvian music (AQA AS Spanish - El patrimonio musical topic). Activity took 2 hours to create but it was well worth it - students worked in pairs and had fun trying to complete the activity first. Rewards can be given for extra motivation to the pair finishing first. As students will have to read the text carefully, the whole activity will easily take around 20-30 minutes to carry out, depending on ability. All instructions and handouts required are inside of the pack. Answers included too. Could stretch the activity even further by having students write a summary on the text once the competition is over. A different and fun way to get students reading for detail without complaining!
