BTEC Tech Award Level 1/2 Health and Social Care Component 1 - a complete teaching package to pick-up and run with. This covers what is need in the life stage Birth to Infancy (0-2 years) If you are following my SoW 2024-2025 this is Week 2 is the delivery of all aspects covering growth and development in the first life stage, birth to infancy 0-2 years. The pace has to be reasonably fast to get the content delivered, you may want to get the physical and intellectual completed in one lesson and then the emotional and social in the second lesson, it’s entirely up to you. All the spec content is included in one presentation with 49 slides which have animation so text is delivered in chunks. These cover the expected key characteristics in each of the PIES classifications. This will allow the lesson to finish on a slide that suits you, however, to keep up with the SoW the whole of the below will need to be delivered in one week. Physical: rapid physical growth of weight and height, development of gross and fine motor skills, following the same pattern of growth and development but at different rates Intellectual: rapid development of language and thinking skills such as memory/recall Emotional: attachments are formed, emotional wellbeing is based on bonding/attachment, security and contentment Social: strong dependence on adults/carers, socialisation through family, engage in solitary play Along the way there are Pause-Points to encourage engagement, but the presentation is adaptable to suit you teaching style. Optional video’s are on certain slides, depending how you are getting on for time. In order for students to build up their own work to refer to when they sit the PSA Tasks, they will need to have notes which cover all the spec and be able to understand the relevance of these when writing up their Task 1, which is 1.5 hours long (next page). Throughout the presentation there is reference to the criteria as it’s a combination of knowing the key characteristics in a life stage and then also knowing the sequence and changes through the life stage eg. a 6-month-old compared to an 18-month-old. For visual learners these are demonstrated as steps, and these are coloured for each of the PIES. In order for them to bring the notes together there is a homework task which you may want them to be starting as you go along and to be finished at home. There is a Level 1 homework task and a Level 2 homework tasks which you will need to decide who gets which one. Perhaps if this is started in the lesson you will be able to look at their target grade and their ability demonstrated in front of you, to make that decision. This is a complete package that has a booklet and week by week programme for Unit one as well as an engaging 18 page booklet covering the A1 part of the spec, which you can add to or alter, getting students to print it off in advance of the lessons. The reduction in oestrogen causes physical and emotional symptoms, to include hot flushes, night sweats, mood swings, loss of libido and vaginal dryness. T-Level Health Year 2 Occupational Specialism Assessment Supporting Adult Nursing Activity to guide students about the importance of building a detailed reflective portfolio using the Gibbs Reflective cycle. Advice for students; When building your reflective portfolio note the themes and the K&S points clearly at the top. Collate these into an order you will understand, perhaps using folder dividers. This clear labeling will speed up finding and referring to them in your Assignment 3, you have only 45 minutes to prepare. Relate aspects of the reflection to things like a specific part of the NMC code, the CQC 5 fundamental standards, legislation, policy and the 6C’s. BTEC Tech Award Level 1/2 Health and Social Care Component 1 (2022 spec)- a complete teaching package to pick-up and run with. This covers what the content for B1. Life Events; Health & Wellbeing and B2. Support that goes with the life events and the characteristic trait self-esteem and outlook If you are following my SoW 2024-2025, this is Week 14, this now relates to PSA Task 3a (Life Event PIES) and 3b (Support) . There are homework tasks for both Level 1 and Level 2 which are adaptable to suit your need eg.date There are activities aimed at building up student notes to have with them in the PSA and capture understanding and can be referred to whilst students complete the PSA Controlled Assessment. There is the continued literacy support with useful vocabulary, again and a case study example PIES. There’s a 39 slide presentation introducing life events to get students thinking to start with. All the spec content relates to Life Event impacting on a person experiencing a point from the Health & Wellbeing category and suitable support. There is also points that guides students to considers personality impacting on coping strategies. This detail is included in the 40 slide presentation which has pause points for student contribution and breaks to complete their notes table which they can refer to in the actual PSA. There is homework worksheets for both Level 1 and Level 2 learners. The content covered is:- Health and wellbeing: • accident/injury • physical illness • mental and emotional health and wellbeing The character traits that influence how individuals cope: • resilience • self-esteem • emotional intelligence • disposition – a person’s character traits, e.g. positive, negative Formal GP support as well as family support to cope with the life events. BTEC Tech Award Level 1/2 Health and Social Care Component 1 - a complete teaching package to pick-up and run with. This covers what is needed for the life stage Early Childhood (3-8 years) If you are following my SoW 2024-2025 this is Week 3 is the delivery of all aspects covering growth and development in the second life stage, childhood 3-8 years. The pace has to be reasonably fast to get the content delivered, there is one PowerPoint you can use split for different lessons. All the spec content is included in one presentation with 59 slides which have animation so text is delivered in chunks. These cover the expected key characteristics in each of the PIES classifications. This will allow the lesson to finish on a slide that suits you, however, to keep up with the SoW the whole of the below will need to be delivered in one week. Physical: continued growth of weight and height, mastery of gross and fine motor skills Intellectual: increased curiosity, language fluency develops, strong grasp of memory/recall Emotional: increased independence, wider range of relationships are formed, emotional wellbeing is based on attachment, security and contentment Social: social circle widens and close friendships are formed, socialisation continues through family and also friends/carers, social play develops Along the way there are Pause-Points to encourage engagement, but the presentation is adaptable to suit you teaching style. Optional video’s are on certain slides, depending how you are getting on for time. In order for students to build up their own work to refer to when they sit the PSA Tasks, they will need to have notes which cover all the spec and be able to understand the relevance of these when writing up their Task 1, which is 1.5 hours long (next page). Throughout the presentation there is reference to the criteria as it’s a combination of knowing the key characteristics in a life stage and then also knowing the sequence and changes through the life stage eg. a 6-month-old compared to an 18-month-old. For visual learners these are demonstrated as steps, and these are coloured for each of the PIES. There is a Level 1 homework task and a Level 2 homework tasks… Homework sheets are on Word and can be adapted.
