Number and Letter formation practice

2 downloads in 1. I use these letter and number formations in my class everyday as they can serve as a great reminder for children to support with their writing. We also laminate them and place them on the desk for specific children so they can practice going over the numbers and letters with a white board pen and then clean and use again another day or session. Downloadable as a PDF and I used the standard cursive font. This supports children who write their numbers or letters backwards as well as those who need support with fine-motor skills.

Roman Numerals and place value smart board and work sheets

I have used these resources as a whole week’s worth of lessons with smart board and sheets from Tuesday - Friday. Monday’s sheets I just used basic Roman Numeral sheets. It’s a great resource that makes Roman Numerals fun as I did an Indiana Jones lesson where the children had to solve reasoning and fluency questions on Roman Numerals and place value to help Indiana escape. Directly linked to the White Rose Maths hub scheme for year 4 and includes lessons on place value for Thursday and Friday that test children’s varied fluency and reasoning skills. 3-4 levels of differentiation. Green = Lower ability, Blue = middle ability. Yellow = middle/higher ability and Red = higher ability/mastery.

3 different activities to help children to consolidate number bonds to 5. Great for children in KS1, or for using with children working at the pre-key stage standards. ____________________________________________________________________ I planned these activities to be used with children working at Standard 4, as a way of consolidating number bonds to 5 and supporting them with their subitising skills. ____________________________________________________________________ There are 2 work sheets and 1 card game which can be laminated and reused throughout the year for consolidaiton.

A great addition for any Maths Working Wall in a Key Stage 2 classroom. Pastel in design, I love having these in my classroom and they’re really useful for children to look back on to support them in consolidating roman numerals.

This wavy checkerboard design is a great edition to any working wall. We use it specifically from year 4 - year 6 to consolidate children’s knowledge of times tables and multiplcation. It is good to use when skip counting, or going through times tables with children. Visuals are a brilliant way to get children to know more and remember more. Seeing the patterns of the numbers will help children to remember and understand how times tables work.
Avengers Fractions card game

Avengers Fractions card game

A Top Trumps based card game testing children’s knowledge of fractions of amounts. With 18 different cards featuring different Marvel Avengers heroes and villians, children will use these cards to play a game of Top Trumps. Each card has 3 different categories. Children will take it in turns to chose a category to compete against. For example, if one child chooses intelligence, they will both try to solve the fraction of amount question in that category. The child with the highest number, wins the other child’s card. The ultimate winner is the person who collects all the cards. Children love this game and it’s a great lesson to do once the children have learnt the basics of finding a fraction of an amount. There’s no need for extra prep and it keeps the children engaged throughout.

interactive KS2 clock display

A display to support telling the time, perfect for any Maths working wall. All you need to do is print it, laminate and cut it and then add a split pin to the clock hands to make it interactive. It comes with time cards to decorate around the edge and show the different times, e.g 5 past, 10 past ect. The clock edge is also split into 60 to show how time is counted in 60 minutes. I use this with my class with conjunction with our White Rose time unit, but also throughout different lessons and to get the children to go and change the time on the interactive clock. For example, I might ask one child to set the clock to lunch or home time and then we look at how we know they are correct or how to help them to get it right.

Comparing different denominators fractions game

A Top Trumps based card game testing children’s knowledge of fractions and tests their ability to compare fractions with different denominators. With 18 different cards featuring different Marvel Avengers heroes and villians, children will use these cards to play a game of Top Trumps. Each card has 3 different categories. Children will take it in turns to chose a category to compete against. For example, if one child chooses intelligence, they will compare the two fractions and have to convert the different denominators to find out which is bigger. The child with the largest fraction wins the other child’s card. The ultimate winner is the person who collects all the cards. Children love this game and it’s a great lesson to do once the children have learnt the basics of converting different denominators to compare fractions. There’s no need for extra prep and it keeps the children engaged throughout.

I have used this smart board and worksheet for 3 years in a row now and it’s fantastic each time! It’s two-days worth of smart boards with worksheets at the end of the input slides for easy group marking. Work sheets for printing are on seperate PDF documents. They all have reasoning questions throughout and finish with a ‘platinum’ challenge which is a deeper learning mastery question. It follows the white rose scheme and has different levels to the worksheet as part of the mastery curriculum. All children can complete this sheet as the differentiation is done within the Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum element. Lower Ability children will be able to complete the bronze and usually the silver and these steps provide stepping stones for them to each gold which is the age related target. The middle and higher abilities will still be challenged as the reasoning questions sprinkled throughout will test their knowledge of multiplication.
Football Multiplication Game with Match Attax

Football Multiplication Game with Match Attax

Perfect full lesson game for end of unit or end of term fun. This game tests the column addition skills of the children by getting them to roll a dice and multiply either the attacking number, or the defense number, depending on whose turn it is. Multiplication crosses the tens, and can be up-leveled by adding 2 dice so that the children are multiplying 2-digit by 2-digit numbers. The aim of the game is for the children to see who can cross the pitch board game first. Each player has 15 Match Attax cards and different coloured football pieces. The children will take it in turns to be the ‘attacking’ player. They will roll the dice and multiply the number on the dice by the number for ‘attack’ on their player’s card. The opposite player will then roll their dice and multiply that number by the number for the ‘defense’ on their player’s card. The child with the highest score wins and gets to place their football onto the pitch. The children put their cards to the bottom of the pile and it’s now the other child’s turn to be the ‘attacker’. This is continued until one player has reached the opposition’s side of the pitch. Included in the download are - Powerpoint explaining the rules visually to children, instruction sheet for the children, 30 different Match Attax card images on PDF, the football counters pdf and the board game on an A3 word document. Download, print and laminate for a great lesson. I use this at the end of every half-term and the children love it while still keeping a purposeful working environment.

Christmas English, Maths and French bundle!

This set is perfect for the end of a busy term in the run up to Christmas. The Abridged version of A Christmas Carol has been re-written to make it shorter and easier to grasp for children, with images included. There are sets of worksheets and reading comprehension questions to accompany the book. The Grinch Maths is 2 days worth of smart boards and worksheets, aimed to support all children in the Maths lesson. Again, this is great for keeping some structure for the last 2 days of term. The Christmas French vocabulary poster is a lovely display and visual aid and we use it to play bingo with, to create art work and to play labeling games around the room.

This bundle includes boho style lettering for your Maths Area as well as an interactive clock, a multiplication display and roman numerals pastel cards. This pastel, boho collection of display materials brights up the classroom as well as supports learning in any KS2 class room. The Roman Numerals go up to 20 individually, and then jump by 10 up to 100 and have 500 and 1000 too. The interactive clock should be laminated and the hands need a split pin through the middle so that children and adults can move the hands around the clock- making it interactive. It also shows the minute segments so that children can visually see how an hour is made up of 60 minutes.

This bundle includes some of my favourite ways to enjoy summer with a class while also keeping them focused and engaged on their learning. Football Multiplication game. The child with the highest score wins and gets to place their football onto the pitch. The children put their cards to the bottom of the pile and it’s now the other child’s turn to be the ‘attacker’. This is continued until one player has reached the opposition’s side of the pitch. **Avengers fraction card game and Comparing denominators fraction game. ** A Top Trumps based card game testing children’s knowledge of fractions of amounts. Maths Dobble Snap cards game These game cards aim to reinforce the idea that the number of objects remains the same when they are rearranged, providing nothing has been added or taken away. There are 3 different games you can play with them to show cardinality. Dobble, find the matching pair and the cardinality hunt. The instructions included give detailed, visual instructions on how to play these games. You can also use them for simple adding lessons too. We use them to support children with EAL or SEND in a busy year 4/5 classroom. But can be used in any year group, or for specific individual’s planning. Predator, Prey, Producer game. This food chain game gets children to explore food chains in an interactive way. Simply cut the cards out, laminate if you like and then distribute them to the class. There are 32 cards in the set and they all match up to a specific food chain. Once they have found their food chain and put it together, children can then identify which are the producers, the prey and the predators. I have used this with year 4 and year 5 classes before and it’s a great way to visually show them how a food chain works. The cards are editable, so to make it trickier you could remove the text from the bottom of the cards so that the children have to find their own food chains using their previous knowledge of living things and their habitats.
