The workbook focuses on formation and conjugation, rather than usage, but I’ve found that when my students are able to provide the correct conjugation very quickly, and out of a specific context, they feel really confident that their conjugation skills are developing well.
Though the workbook focuses solely on the correct conjugation of verbs, and does not look at word order in the context of full sentences, there are fixed conjugation patterns that students can learn, recognize and apply, ensuring that their spoken and written French is accurate, and that their understanding of French across the skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing is robust. Students become very familiar and confident the more they work with conjugation, and these quick conjugations certainly help to embed that successfully.

BACK TO SCHOOL SPANISH NUMBERS 0-31 BUNTING BANNERS It’s great to create a new look for the new school year - I use bunting/banners not only to create a real Spanish look and feel in the learning environment, but also to promote everyday language and core vocabulary for learners of all ages. PRIMARY SPANISH KS3 SPANISH VEGETABLES BINGO GAMES 100 DIFFERENTIATED BINGO GRIDS AND 40 CALLING CARDS Bingo games are perfect for language learning, and they’re really easy to differentiate. All my students, regardless of age, find playing the games a great way of consolidating their Spanish vocabulary, and developing their Spanish language skills in general - bingo is absolutely perfect for speaking, listening, reading, writing and spelling.
This set includes 100 differentiated bingo grids and 40 calling cards - 20 in Spanish, and 20 in English - I always play with English calling cards too, as I’ve found it’s a really great way of further consolidating vocabulary - students have to focus carefully on the language ‘switch’, and translate what they hear really quickly. It’s definitely useful to have calling cards, so that you can keep track of what you’re calling out, and it also lets students be the bingo caller too, meaning they can play entirely independently of the teacher.
There are twelve Spanish vegetables in masculine, feminine, singular & plural in this set:

thee carrots
the lettuce
the cucumber

the cabbage
the potatoes
the garlic

I differentiate my bingo games by using picture-only cards, which are great for general vocabulary consolidation and recall, and listening skills. There are 40 9-square grids in total, and there’s a set of color (which I sometimes laminate so that I can just get them out whenever I need to - make sure students have wipe-clean pens on their tables!). I’ve also included the same grids in black and white - simply print these out. I sometimes give out pages with four grids on, and let students choose which order they play the grids in - they have multiple pages - or sometimes, I get the students to cut out the grids, place them in a small bowl or similar on tables and they then randomly choose grids - depending on the size of your class, you will definitely have several winners per game. The grids are designed for all the squares to be crossed off in order to win the game.
I also use word-only grids to help students focus more on their reading skills, so I’ve included 40 Spanish word-only 9-square grids, 4 per page (10 pages). There are 20 mixed word and picture grids are ideal for additional challenge and differentiation.

These French numbers display posters / flashcards create an instant introduction to Numbers 0-31 in French, also giving the learning environment fabulous French look and feel. I’ve found that having new and high-frequency language displays also helps promote French as a living language, featuring in the everyday life of French learners. The posters help students familiarize themselves with how French words ‘look’, and how sounds are represented in the written form. The font is big enough for students to read in various locations in the classroom - I find this really important so that we can get the most out of any particular display - for example we use them for spelling and mental calculation games at certain points in the lesson.
It doesn’t matter if you’re not focusing on numbers at any particular time - classroom display provides learners with daily opportunities to engage with the written word in French, to develop their recognition and recall of individual words, to identify cognates and near-cognates, and to begin to link spelling with sound in French.
Use them as flashcards to introduce and practise language too - it’s a traditional and successful low-tech teaching method, which gives students a welcome break from the whiteboard - varying teaching methodologies in the language learning classroom is always a good idea, and I also encourage my students to take the role of the teacher too, which they find really motivating.
There are two backgrounds to choose from - French flag or black wave, so 64 posters in all. Laminate or print on card stock - I always do this with my flashcards and displays - they hang a lot better, and I recycle them for many years.

This set of French Conversation starters features 100 starters in question format, suitable for intermediate French to advanced French students. Speaking is a language skill that learners tend to find very challenging, regardless of level, and increased engagement with language that requires them to both reproduce accurately language they are already familiar with, and to be creative with that language in order to produce new language is integral to successful language learning.

I try to include as broad a range of language as I can in the questions, as the activity is not solely about practising language, but also about*** actively learning*** it. I encourage students to look for cues and clues in the questions themselves, and this certainly enables them to engage with new or unknown language successfully, and to progress in their learning, which is just as important for more advanced learners.
Questions formats are varied, to ensure maximum opportunity to work with the different ways to ask questions in German. Some questions seek to elicit very similar information, but are asked in different language: this avoids learners simply parroting learned responses to fixed prompts.

Speaking is a language skill that learners tend to find very challenging, and increased engagement with language that requires them to both reproduce language they are already familiar with, and to be creative with that language in order to produce new language is integral to successful language learning.

Each card has an image: some of these are specific visual prompts to help students infer meaning; some are more generic images. I do use images as much as possible with this kind of activity, not only to provide the prompt, but also to add to the visual appeal of it, which is a real motivator for learning.
I remind students that it is not necessary to tell the truth - the purpose is to create and produce accurate and realistic language. Students can prepare their responses in as much detail as possible on the accompanying planning sheet, remembering that these are conversation starters, so that once they have responded, they should then say something to keep the conversation going.
As a whole-group activity, distribute the cards amongst your students, one or several. Ideally, they should walk around the classroom, asking questions, and swapping cards. For pair or small-group work, students can work in a designated area. This really helps them focus closely on the language, and helps learners who are slightly less confident working with a larger group.

This list is a collection of 40 high-frequency English prepositions for French-speaking English learners, ideal for advanced beginner English students into intermediate English students. They are common English prepositions, so students will see, hear and use them regularly in daily life. It’s an important step in language learning to ensure that students quickly develop a useful vocabulary bank, are able to recognize key English vocabulary, and are confident with the meaning of that vocabulary in French - at that point they can move on to looking at using the prepositions in a communicative and practical context. Students shouldn’t take on the task of learning all prepositions at once though - this is more of a longer-term reference resource that students can use to audit their developing English vocabulary, adding to the list as their knowledge grows, and embedding it into long-term memory through frequent usage.
