PRIMARY SPANISH KS2 SPANISH ESPAÑOL PARA NIÑOS SPANISH FOR CHILDREN TWO SETS OF TEN WORD SEARCHES WITH ANSWER KEYS @ £2.50 EACH Files are non-editable in a zipped format. Please read the Terms of Use carefully: this resource is copyright, all rights reserved. It may not be copied, rewritten, shared or distributed outside your own classroom in any way. The license for purchase is a single-user license only. The focus is on key beginner Spanish vocabulary: = los días de la semana en español : days of the week in Spanish = los meses y las estaciones del año en español : months & seasons of the year in Spanish Sopas de letras are a fabulous way of encouraging learners to engage with the written word in Spanish, refreshing and reinforcing language as they complete the grids. This mini-bundle features two sets of 10 differentiated word searches & answer keys, with each consecutive grid increasing in challenge. In each set, there are 5 Spanish to Spanish grids, where students are prompted with Spanish words, and look for them in Spanish in the grid. For additional consolidation, each grid also features an English word list that they have to complete, really putting their knowledge to the test. There are also 5 English to Spanish grids, where the prompt words are given in English, and students have to find the Spanish equivalent in the grid. For additional consolidation and practice in writing in Spanish, they also complete the Spanish word list on each page. Students can tell in which direction the words are written by looking at the arrow key on each grid. There is an answer grid for each word search, so that learners can check their answers - or use for a little extra help if they need it. Answer keys are really essential - they offer learners an additional opportunity to engage with language, and they genuinely enjoy ‘correcting’ their own, and particularly each others’ work. They’re a great teacher time-saver too, which is always a good thing! This kind of activity is really versatile too - I use as for cover lessons, as starters, refreshers, plenaries or fun-time fillers at any time during the school year, as well as when I’m focusing on days, months and seasons in Spanish. They’re ideal for independent learning, and perfect for pair and small-group work. The reference book includes all the questions and answers written out in Spanish. It’s an essential learning support resources for my students, who use it as a general writing frame to guide and inform their own creative writing. It’s really useful for mini-translation, whole-group pronunciation and reading-out loud practice too. We use the notes and next steps template to reflect on learning, what we might reasonably do to progress learning, and to inform and support whole-group discussion about learning in general. The question and answer writing card templates give students a great opportunity to apply Spanish practically and creatively, as they put together both questions and answers for each other. This is a great team activity too, and really popular with my students. The cards are really versatile, and work well in lots of different learning contexts, such as***independent learning time, home learning, revision and exam prep, and cover lessons***. There are also lots of other games and activities students can play - I’ve described how to play several you can start with that have been really successful with my learners. They may not be copied, rewritten, amended, shared or distributed outside your own classroom in any way. The license for purchase is a single-user license only. Please read the Terms of Use. These activities really do help to create a lively language learning environment for young learners of French, and offer a popular alternative to more traditional, teacher-led***information about France*** lessons. Children can develop their knowledge of the francophone world - and through guided whole-group discussion - their home / host country too, in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, in part independently of the teacher. There is a bonus multi-focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading, writing and spelling, and is a great way of aligning language learning with developing literacy skills in English. The resource comprises the following non-editable files: 20 facts cards - there are four facts in each of the following topic groups:geography, country, landmarks, language and food. There are blank templates for children to research and create their own facts cards for each other, and providing them with opportunity to apply learning and knowledge creatively. Over the school year, children should regularly add to their facts cards, which in time creates a fabulous bank of facts about France. Facts recording sheet challenge level 1 - there are two options: either two or four fact recording boxes per page. Children read their selected facts, and copy the information in the boxes. Facts recording sheet challenge level 2 - there are also two options: two or four fact recording boxes in this challenge level. However, there is a more open-ended task: responding to the question “What did you learn?”. This requires children to read their fact card, process the information, and then recreate it in their own words, describing the fact in the context of what they have learned. 24 question / comprehension cards — the questions have a differentiated range of challenge, and are based on the knowledge developed through the whole-group presentation and discussion, and the facts cards. There are some independent research questions, which I use as a springboard for further discussion based on children’s own developing interests about France. There are blank templates here too - creating questions is a great way to think about and apply knowledge and learning. question / comprehension cards recording sheet whole-group facts presentation & discussion MERCI BEACOUP, BON APPRENTISSAGE ET BON VOYAGE !

It may not be copied, rewritten, shared or distributed outside your own in any way. The license for purchase is a single-user license only. Please read the Terms of Use. German Numbers 0-31 Challenge Cards really do help to create a lively language learning environment. Students can develop, embed, reinforce and refresh their knowledge of German numbers in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher. They have a bonus multi-skill focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading and spelling. They’re great for helping beginner German students familiarise themselves with, and develop competence in, speaking, reading, writing and spelling longer words in German. The cards are useful not only when you’re focusing on German Numbers 0-31, but also for cover lessons, as an all-year-round starter, plenary and general ‘pick-me-up’ activity, as the goal is not simply to learn how to count in German, but also to enjoy working with German, and to feel confident about doing so. All questions are in German, and range in complexity and challenge, both in terms of language and number skills. I've used visual prompts such as maths symbols to ensure all learners can engage with the questions, and this helps them to begin to infer meaning from context, and to decode cues and prompts to foster understanding. Some questions focus specifically on German maths language, which students do not always engage with very often. The level of maths is fairly simple, but certainly draws on prior number and arithmetic learning. The question card template enables students to apply their knowledge of language and arithmetic creatively and practically, which is integral to successful language learning. My students also genuinely enjoy creating questions for each other. The set comprises the following non-editable files: 48 differentiated question cards, 4 per A4 (8.5 x 11) paper. Laminate if possible - it's definitely worth the extra prep time and expense, as they're far more learner-friendly and last for absolutely years. 2-page answer recording sheet 2-page answer key essential learning support resource, encouraging students to develop more independence in their learning, and providing an additional opportunity to engage with language Have a browse in my store for more German independent learning activities, and a wide range of other German teaching and learning materials, with German resource boxes, special offer bundles, and lots of freebies. FRENCH PERFECT TENSE CONJUGATION PRACTICE

KS3 KS4 GCSE FRENCH VERBS PERFECT TENSE CONJUGATION PRACTICE FOCUS ON 25 HIGH-FREQUENCY REGULAR & IRREGULAR FRENCH VERBS My students really like this kind of grammar activity, as they like to work and learn independently, which is a successful way of varying teaching and learning methodologies - I’ve found it’s really important to avoid predominantly teacher-led learning in the languages classroom. There are 150 conjugations across 3 differentiated conjugation challenges, with full answer key. I use these kinds of workbooks in lots of different ways: for practice during the introduction phase, for independent choice in class time, for homework, for practice and revision during holidays and at return to class, and for cover lessons - they’re really versatile, and ideal for advanced KS3 French and KS4 French students who are beginning to work with more complex language and texts. The workbooks focus on the mechanics of conjugation, rather than usage, and I’ve found that when my students are able to provide the correct conjugation very quickly, and out of a specific context, they feel really confident that their conjugation skills are developing well. The resource is structured as follows: Two alphabetical verb reference lists: French-English and English-French. Three conjugation challenges, each with 50 individual conjugations: Conjugation Challenge 1: each verb conjugated in French across a range of pronouns, with students writing the corresponding English verb conjugation. Conjugation Challenge 2: gives the infinitive of each verb in French, specifying the target pronoun. Students write the corresponding verb conjugation in French. Conjugation Challenge 3: students write the corresponding French verb conjugation, and its infinitive, from an English prompt. Notes and Next Steps template which students visit regularly - it really does encourage them to think about where they are now, how confident they feel, and what they might need to work on a little more to be absolutely sure of their conjugation skills. answer key Have a browse in my store for more French grammar activities, and a wide range of other French teaching and learning materials, with special offer bundles and lots of freebies too! It’s useful to give the book to advanced KS3 French students too, as it provides a language road map with learning goals, outlining the adjectives they should ideally know by a specific stage in their learning. I create a lot of language learning reference books for my languages students, they’re really popular with my students, who like to have a bank of reference resources for both initial learning and longer-term learning and revision. There are 22 pages in the book, and all 400 adjectives are listed alphabetically French-English. Each adjective is also shown in the masculine, feminine, singular and plural forms, which my students find really helpful as they begin to engage with gender agreement in French. I use the reference book for quick vocabulary quizzes too - either I or a nominated student shouts out a French or English adjective, with teams giving the corresponding French or English adjective - I’ve found this is a really successful way of avoiding more formal vocabulary tests, while still providing students with frequent opportunity to refresh and embed essential French vocabulary. The adjectives are useful for engaging with the following topics and themes: youth, identity & lifestyle : fashion : culture, customs and traditions relationships and family : technology and social media : sport, health and fitness; free time, hobbies and interests : entertainment and leisure : food and drink; France and French-speaking countries : local, national & international global areas of interest : transport : holidays, tourism and travel : environment, pollution, recycling and climate : social issues : school, college, current and future study : work experience, skills and personal qualities : employment, ambitions and career plans Have a browse in my store for more French resources, including special offer bundles and freebies. SPANISH COLOURS FLASHCARDS FREEBIE #2

PRIMARY SPANISH KS2 SPANISH KS3 SPANISH SPANISH COLOURS FLASHCARDS POSTERS Los colores en español 8 posters / flashcards These 4***adjectival agreement*** posters, with a focus on the colour verde, make an ideal grammar and speaking prompt in the Spanish classroom - for example, I encourage students to look carefully at the differences between el monstruo verde and los monstruos verdes. Giving learners the opportunity to look very closely at language, to identify similarities and differences with their first language, as well as rules and patterns in the target language, is a really key language teaching and learning strategy. I use high-frequency beginner Spanish vocabulary to do this. As students build their vocabulary, with increasing understanding of gender and gender agreement, they are able to apply those rules and patterns to new language. I use questions such as Verdadero o falso? El monstruo verdes? , really emphasizing pronunciation, so that they can hear the difference in agreement. I often write the questions on the whiteboard too, as it’s equally important that they are able to***recognise the differences in the written words*** too, and to link sound with spelling . Use them as flashcards to introduce and practice language too - it’s a traditional and successful low-tech teaching method, which gives students a welcome break from the whiteboard - varying teaching methodologies in the language learning classroom is always a good idea, and I also encourage my students to take the role of the teacher too, which they find really motivating. It doesn’t matter if this particular language doesn’t feature in your immediate or even longer-term learning plan: the flashcards / posters provide learners with daily opportunities to engage with the written word in Spanish, to develop their recognition and recall of individual words, to identify cognates and near-cognates, and to begin to link spelling with sound in Spanish. There are two backgrounds to choose from - either the Spanish flag, or black wave. Laminate the flashcards / posters if possible - they’ll hang really nicely, stay in good shape, and you’ll be able to use them for many years to come! FRENCH CHRISTMAS WORD SEARCH FREEBIE

PRIMARY FRENCH KS3 CHRISTMAS WORD SEARCH FREEBIE Mots Cachés are a fabulous way of encouraging students to engage with the written word in French, refreshing and reinforcing language as they complete the grids. This freebie word search features fourteen French Christmas words, which helps to develop students’ awareness of some Francohphone Christmas traditions and figures, such as Saint Nicholas and Père Fouettard. I use this as a prompt to stimulate discussion about French Christmas practices and customs, and we talk about what students know about other Christmas traditions around the world. The nouns feature masculine and feminine, singular and plural and both definite and indefinite articles, which is a great way of working on and consolidating those grammatical concepts too. I always give answer keys to my word searches - that works really well in terms of helping students work and learn independently together without me, and gives them even more opportunity to engage with French. They’re a great teacher time-saver too, which is always a bonus! I use word searches as starters, refreshers, plenaries or fun-time fillers at any time during the Christmas season, not only if I’m introducing French Christmas vocabulary.
