It is a 5 page worksheet, where students are required to read the excerpts of the HG Wells novel, The War of the Worlds and answer questions about the text. It includes questions about the places in the UK mentioned in the book, such as: Horsell Common Leatherhead Shepperton Church Putney Hill London Questions about the text includes: How do you think the residents living nearby to Horsell Common would feel reading about Martians crashing into the common? Does it make a difference that the Martians chose to attack rural England first, rather than London? This resource would be appropriate for Level 2 students and beyond.

I use this resource with the accompanying PowerPoint for CEIAG (Careers Education Information Advice & Guidance) sessions in Media Studies sessions. Students recap the 5 different media sectors and then research a career in the media sector (via the PowerPoint/Group Discussion). Afterwards, the students can complete this worksheet, stating what skills and qualities are needed for the chosen career and how they have been working on these within sessions.
