This full lesson PowerPoint (including practical activity) can be used to teach a broad range of abilities about evaporation and boiling, and how to evaporate the solvent from a solution. This lesson assumes that students have already had a lesson to train them in lighting and using Bunsen burners. If this has not been done, I have a suitable lesson available in my shop entitled “Science Practical Skills - Using Bunsen Burners”. The lesson is in keeping with the current KS3 UK National Curriculum, is easily accessible for students and simple to follow for teachers.

This PowerPoint (plus worksheet) are designed to introduce the meaning of concentration in Chemistry and teaches students how to use cubic decimetres to calculate concentration of solutions in g dm-3. The lesson is accessible for students, easy to follow for teachers and is required learning for Combined and Triple Science classes, Foundation and Higher tiers. Be aware: this resource covers concentration in g dm-3 only. Triple Science students will also need to learn about concentrations in mol dm-3 but this is covered in a later lesson, once moles have been introduced Follow-up lessons on Calculations involving Mass are available from my shop individually or, alongside this lesson, as part of a whole-topic bundle.

These PowerPoints will allow you to teach students the GCSE 9-1 Chemistry required content on Solubility and Precipitates. Two full lesson PowerPoints are provided: Solubility and Precipitates Covers the solubility rules and what happens during precipitation reactions plus some Higher-tier only content on ionic equations. Making a precipitate In this lesson students are able to learn the method to make their own pure, dried precipitate. This bundle meets all specification points needed to teach Topic 1 (States of Matter and Mixtures & Purity) from the Edexcel GCSE 9-1 Combined Science and Chemistry courses. It also covers all of the theory needed for Topic 2 (Methods of Separation - theory, Methods of Separation - practical, Chromatography and Drinking Water). The only aspect of Topic 2 that is missing is the Simple Distillation Core Practical (I am working on a resource for this), though the theory is all covered above.
