This bundle will allow you to teach Year 8 students the Key Stage 3 National Curriculum required learning on Metals and their Uses. The bundle includes five full PowerPoints (containing equipment lists for suggested practicals) plus associated resources sufficient to teach six full lessons (one is a double lesson PowerPoint). These PowerPoints will allow you to teach students the GCSE 9-1 Chemistry required content on the reactions of acids with metals, metal oxides, metal hydroxides and metal carbonates. Two full lesson PowerPoints are provided: Reactions of Acids Introduces the key rules for acid reactions and deals primarily with word equations, though there are some opportunities for balanced equation practice in the final task. Acid reactions and Balanced Equations This lesson builds upon the rules learned in lesson 1, while recalling formulae and skills learned in previous lessons, so that students learn to write balanced equations for acid reactions with minimal provided. A homework sheet (plus mark-scheme) is then included for students to practise what they learn across the two lessons. The resources are easy to follow for teachers, readily accessible for students and are appropriate for Combined and Triple Science classes, Foundation and Higher tiers. Other GCSE lessons (including others from the Acids and Alkalis topic) are available from my shop. They can be purchased individually or, alongside this lesson, as part of a whole-topic bundle.

This bundle meets all specification points needed to teach Topic 16 (topic 20 for Separate Science) "Fuels" and Topic 17 (topic 21 for Separates) "Earth and Atmospheric Science" from the Edexcel GCSE 9-1 Combined Science course. This PowerPoint is designed to introduce the Law of Conservation of Mass, closed systems and looks at simple examples of conservation of mass in solutions and chemical reactions. This lesson is accessible for students, easy to follow for teachers and is required learning for Combined and Triple Science classes, Foundation and Higher tiers. Be aware: this resource covers the basics; it does not deal with more complex ideas linked to conservation of mass (e.g., reacting masses) as they are covered in a later lesson. As such, this content may take a whole lesson to cover with weaker students but will be completed very quickly with higher-ability / motivated students.
