2, 5, 10 Times Tables – DOMINO Games with Arrays for Maths Fact Fluency

(0)
Are you looking for times table activities to practice multiplication? These fun domino Maths games include arrays, calculations and answers (great for mental recall) & will get your students excited about practicing 2, 5 & 10 times tables to get quicker and more confident at working out calculations accurately and efficiently. Using the versions with the arrays (or grids) and calculations will illustrate what for example 5x3 looks like as a quantity. So often students learn their times tables by rote but have no feeling about what these numbers mean. Seeing these as arrays will make that step from pictures to abstract Maths easier Encourage students to discuss strategies they are using to clarify their thinking - you can find ideas about this in my Patterns & Tips Freebie resource. Use these as independent activities to play in pairs or small groups or as an adult-led task with opportunities to talk about how to make multiplying (and dividing) easier e.g. 5x4 = 10x4 and halving this. There are so many ways to make multiplying easier and discussing this will help students. Differentiation is easy as there are 3 versions: easier - arrays and calculations arrays and answer harder and great for mental recall - calculations and answers mixing up the cards as an extra challenge Provide manipulatives, times table squares, 100 squares or number lines for extra support if necessary. Students will become more confident and fluent in their mathematical thinking. You will get: 24 cards in 3 Sets: Set 1 – arrays (or grids) and calculations Set 2 – arrays (or grids) and answers Set 3 - calculations and answers teaching notes instructions answers patterns for the backs of cards Great for you: Low-prep - print, cut up cards & you are ready Great for your Maths centres Ideal for Maths lessons A great stand-alone activity Ideal for extra fun times tables and multiplication practice Great for easy-prep fun times table homework Ideal if you need a quick resource e.g. for supply days Great for your students: Popular activities that are easy to do - players are engaged to play and see if other players are correct Opportunities to understand what times tables look like as a picture/ quantity and multiply in fun ways. Using the grids and arrays will help them to understand and secure this key Maths skill of multiplication and what it means rather than (only) reciting times tables by rote - an important step in Maths. Learning together and games with a competitive element help students stay engaged Please leave a review if you like this resource as it will help others to find it.Thank you. Thanksgiving ADD & SUBTRACT to 10, 20, 100 - 9 Mental Maths Games

(0)
Looking for Thanksgiving addition & subtraction maths games for KS1 & KS2 to practice adding and subtracting numbers to 10, 20, and 100? Encourage mental maths with the differentiated games & add or subtract numbers to consolidate number fluency this November using their key maths skills. Students will be eager to play and work out the answers using these fun and easy-prep activities. Check whether other players are giving the correct answers so everyone is involved every time someone moves the counter. Optional - players can only move if they say the answer correctly. Calculating and adding numbers mentally can be challenging, but the more students do this, the better they will get. Finding ways to make this fun, e.g. by playing games and ‘drip feeding’ this into daily maths activities, is a great way of getting students to become quicker and more accurate with these important skills. Make this easier for students who need support by providing number lines, manipulatives, or other maths resources you have for counting, e.g. Numicon, Dienes, etc. for working out and checking answers. This gives a great connection between concrete maths, i.e. handling objects, and the more abstract maths of using numerals and written calculations. These are great maths activities for adding up in our heads too, ideal to practice mental maths in independent activities. Setting up is quick and instructions are easy to follow and come with the games. Use them in adult-led activities where you can assess their speed and accuracy of adding as they play - evaluate how quick they are at calculating and discuss maths strategies. Discussions like these will help your students become more fluent in their numeracy skills. Differentiation is easy - use the easier addition games for students who need simpler additions to solve and support this with manipulatives or paper & pencil to work out the sums, or challenge them to add or subtract numbers up to 100 using only mental maths strategies. You will get 9 games with the following: Game 1 – add to 10 Game 2 – add to 20 Game 3 – add to 100 Game 4 – subtract from 10 Game 5 – subtract from 20 Game 6 – subtract from 100 Game 7 – subtract & add to 10 Game 8 – subtract & add to 20 Game 9 – subtract & add to 100 dice and spinners. counters patterns for backs instructions Students love learning in fun ways and these games will help to practice their maths skills so that addition becomes easier and quicker. They will make connections through a shared fun learning experience and increase their maths skills in the process – a win-win situation. If your students enjoy the games, please leave a review.
