I am an experienced English teacher of both Literature and Language, and also Classical Studies at High School level. You will find text-based resources for novels, poetry, plays and film study in my shop for Years 7 - 13. The resources are generic to the text so are suitable for any curriculum. I am also a passionate believer in effective literacy learning hence the emphasis on phonics resources in my shop.

A fun activity that asks students to look closely at Homer’s description of Calypso’s island. I have used this activity not only as revision of Book 5, but as a way to produce wonderful creative writing. (This activity produces great classroom display material!) Students are asked to design a postcard describing their reaction to Calypso’s island, having taken a cruise ship to see the place. 3 pages outlining the activity; suggesting what to include in the postcard. Postcard template isn’t included.

A revision activity for Homer’s Odyssey. This can be used for classroom display, group or individual activity. Students have to arrange the map to reflect Odysseus’ journey. Number the places according to when they were visited (some may have two numbers) A Dear Diary template has been included for the written task where Odysseus describes the place, what happens, who was involved and how did he feel about the experience. This activity works well as a group task where each group is given 2 - 3 places to describe. Great for revision. PDF file.
