This Literacy Programme is 2 of 3 for use with year 8s across an entire term and forms part of a newly written programme that builds on the strengthened demands of the KS2 literacy skills and the Year 7 Programme also available on TES. This lesson offers KS5 students a step by step guide to how to approach an essay question and respond to it cogently and effectively ensuring their response is focused and supported. I created this lesson in response to students saying they knew their texts, but weren't sure how to construct them, their written style improved dramatically after delivering this lesson.

This assembly is ideal for use as a return to school assembly: it draws on the musings of Jay Shetty, an international speaker who is entirely relateable to young people today. This assembly motivates students to think about who they are and what they want to achieve and to understand that being different is fine, you take you own route through to success. My own students were transfixed by this assembly and then went on to refer back to it throughout the academic year, which is why I wanted to share it. This is a perfect assembly for returning year 10s through to year 13s but is equally accessible for younger students who need a sense of direction. This assembly uses a range of strategies to engage students, include visual images, thought provoking questions and a challenge to take away with them. This resource based on an extract from 'The Picture of Dorian Gray' by Oscar Wilde is ideal for use with the Edexcel (9-1) English Language Specification. This is a constructed paper based on an extract from one of Primo Levi's Holocaust survivor novels. This is accessible for KS3 and KS4 and has been designed with the Holocaust Memorial Day in mind as an apt activity during that week, although this would prove to be useful practice and revision at any time of the year too. This lesson introduces KS3 students to the conventions of the Detective Genre using short film clips and a fun game. This works really well as either the first lesson of a topic on this genre or as a transition day activity as the students will enjoy the lesson and be left feeling that studying English is not always reading and writing.

This lesson is designed for CPD sessions/teacher training as a guide to professional conduct and responsibilities. It includes a number of engaging discussion points and interactive activities plus access to an online Kahoot game and demonstrates a wide range of pedagogical strategies including the inclusion of literacy and numeracy in the curriculum.

This lesson is highly differentiated, with learning goal sheets to ensure progress is evident and checked/reviewed at several checkpoints during the lesson. It also includes a detailed lesson plan and group activities that are then jigsawed to ensure all students are responsible for their own learning. I have alphabetised the poem for use as a starter activity and created a more accessible question sheet for students likely to achieve grade 2/3. This is a really good lesson to show the students working harder than you do!

This is the first of several lessons on this new option on GCSE syllabuses. These lessons are differentiated and supported whilst also offering challenge and options to create revision resources in preparation for the final examinations. These lesson would work as well for KS3 groups who need a strengthened syllabus in preparation for the more robust (9-1) specifications as for KS4 students preparing for exams. This powerpoint is thorough, engaging and fully differentiated, overtly drawing on the mark scheme to ensure that students understand how to develop their responses and improve on their grades. The tasks are varied and traverse individual, paired and group tasks to ensure all students are supported. Visual imagery has been used throughout to aid comprehension. This fun lesson teaches the accurate use of commas in lists and draws on a Geography based activity to evidence the students application of knowledge.
