Much Ado About Nothing: Learning through Game Play (Ranked 'Outstanding')

These resources include a detailed lesson plan, powerpoint, individualised learning objectives that are aligned with the new GCSE 9-1 grades, a game board template together with a set of original and fully differentiated questions (I laminated both the board and the questions to aid longevity as the students loved this game and wanted to play it again and again). This lesson was ranked outstanding on every level when observed as the outcomes demonstrated above average progression for every student in the group. These resources are perfect for use with years 9,10 and 11.

An observation standard lesson including lesson plan and all resources to aid the evidence of progression during the lesson. Includes effective use of music (embedded) to aid engagement with the 'tone' contained in this poem. Focusing on 'colour' as a route to thinking about tone is a strategy that transfers easily to studying other poems as Seen or Unseen.

19th Century Fiction Paper including mark scheme and indicative content: Oliver

Following the success of the first resource I created on 'The PIcture of Dorian Gray' I have now created this second resource based on an extract from 'Oliver' by Charles Dickens. It is ideal for use with the Edexcel (9-1) English Language Specification. Due to the shortage of past papers to use in the classroom I have constructed this paper for use by teachers using this specification. The resources includes the extract, questions, mark scheme and indicative content. If you like this resource please do leave a review as am happy to construct more.

A detailed powerpoint working through each stanza analysing form, language and structure through a combination of given information and activities. Differentiated activities are included in the powerpoint and a supported framework has been included for a typical exam style essay question. This should be everything you need to teach this poem with no need for additional work/slides.

This resource is designed for the NEW anthology World and Lives and focuses on the poem Thirteen by Caleb Femi. It is fully differentiated and includes a range of different approaches to poetry analysis including different tasks for different abilities, an examplar paragraph and peer teaching. This is a stand alone lesson and concludes with an exam style question on this text with a brief plan of how students might approach it. Student speak AOs are used to encourage students to link their responses to the mark scheme relevant to this part of the specification. This is fully accessible with plenty of stretch for your most able students. This resource includes ideas about relevant context linked to the textual analysis, and structure and language analysis guidance and tasks. If you find this resource useful do follow me as I am working on further resources specific to this Anthology which will be uploaded shortly.
