Students then watch the clips and use the attached thinking hats resource to write about mumbai . The build on key words using the facts slides (these can be printed out). Finally there is a mumbai postcard activity to apply knowledge which can be carried over or completed for homework.

A complete lesson and resource. This follows on from the 4 noble truths lesson. Could be used over 2 lessons. There is lots of content and opportunity to discuss the steps and apply them to real life. Students match the steps to show understanding of what each one is about for Buddhists. There is an extended writing task where students apply their understanding of one of the steps. Here i provide a model answer and give a target of 15 lines of writing. Finally there is a homework task where students must create a book of happiness, like those little books you see near the tills at waterstones.

Each lesson has clear learning outcomes and opportunities for assessment for learning. It could be used in any KS3 year and easily differentiated.

This is a power point lesson encouraging students to use a range of higher level skills to explore the similarities between football and religion. It has a range of clips and activities all the tasks have the printable templates as part of the slide show. There is also a word document for the conversation task where students work in pairs. Starter - completed an open sentence task Linking task - print out the slides with pictures of football and also religious images, students study these and write about how they link on the diagram Video clip - watch and discuss fans of football linking it to religion Conversation task - use the word document template, students work in pairs. KS3 geography. This lesson is based on an intelligent graffiti task where students watch Kevin McCloud staying in the Dharavi slum. There are examples of WAGOLL for the main task and the lesson then develop into a structured assessment with the success criteria explained. It also includes some printable resources to be provided for use as research on the assessment tasks.

KS3 RE, Includes discussion as a starter, background facts and information, a learning from activity focusing on the clothes we wear. Leads into a student research task (print out slides 5-12) for students alone or in groups to find out about and answer key questions on the 5 K’s. These questions are leveled in detail and difficulty, so easy to differentiate. Finishes with a task on Re-designing the school uniform. Lots of flexibility to adapt this lesson for group work too.

I used this with Y9 students as lesson 2 of a unit on ethics. It is a real life story of conjoined twins who were separated. it includes a whole lesson and resources that need to be printed to accompany the activities on the slides. It focuses on religious views and should gradually reveal the full story of what happened. it has web links to the press coverage of the story which can be adapted and used as homework or differentiated up to create research.

Used with Y9 students as lesson 3/4 of the ethics unit. This introduces the definition of capital punishment, getting students to think about crime and punishment in general. It leads to some statistics from amnesty and a sorting task or the arguments for and against the death penalty.

This can work for any KS3 R.E class and can be differentiated easily. You can use the information page to do a text marking task or use it as a comprehension. The learning objectives are clear and you could support less able with a few starter sentences on the written tasks. Very flexible uses, you could read as a class and emphasise literacy or use the resources for some independent learning. You could also adapt and set some tasks as homework.
