This is the third lesson in a set of three covering the structure and function of the KIdney. This lesson specifically focuses on specification point 5.1.2 d- the role of the kidney is osmoregulation. It covers the kidney as an excretory organ as well as the role of ADH in controlling the water balance. It reinforces prior learning regarding negative feedback systems . This is a complete lesson covering section 5.1.2 b, c, d and e of module 5 the OCR A level chemistry course- calculating Kc. It remind students what Kc and how to calculate it when given the data. It then covers deriving the units for Kc and the two types of equilibria (homogeneous and heterogeneous). This is a complete lesson covering sections 5.1.2 c of the OCR Biology specification- nervous conduction by action potential. It goes through how the resting potential is maintained as well as the changes that occur during an action potential. It starts by introducing the decay equation with worked examples before outlining how dice simulation can be used to model nuclear decay. The lesson starts by introducing sex linkage and then includes some examples of genetic crosses involving colour blindness. It then looks at autosomal linkage again using example crosses to support. The lesson the goes on to look at both recessive and dominant epistasis again using lots of examples to support understanding.

The lesson starts with reminders of the tests for the main functional groups in the OCR specification. Each one is set out with the same structure- first giving an opportunity for recall before revealing the answer.

There are then a few short activities recapping the structure of the brain, the structure of the eye and the function of the eye’s structures.

A complete lesson covering section 4.5.3.3 of the AQA GCSE biology specification- treating kidney failure with dialysis and transplant.
The lesson starts with 7 retrieval questions from the Biology course. It then moves to some quick activities covering the role of the kidney and the filter. It the discusses kidney failure and introduces dialysis and transplant as treatments.
There is then a matching exercise where students need to define some key terms. This is followed by some more review questions and an exam style question looking at rejection.

The lesson starts by revising the reactants for photosynthesis and the equation along with the uses of glucose. It then has a quick summary activity before looking at leaf structure. The lesson then moves on to limiting factors with a series of data based activities.
