What is the story of the big equation
A little starter I made for my group to remind them how to read equations. There is a little reminded about what I mean by the 'story' of the equation then a big scary looking equation, the students then have to write its story.
Direct and Indirect proportion generator
This excell file gives 2 lists of numbers, one labelled a and one b, we are told that they are directly proportional and students have to work out how to get from a to b, the constant can be hiden and shown, and new sets can be generated. The next sheet is the same except for indirect proportion.
Time flies (Circumference questions)
Some questions (with answers) about the distance a fly sat at the end of the minute hand of a clock would travel in different lengths of time. Second half asks for general expressions for d days, h hours, m minutes and w weeks.

KS3 / GCSE. Box and Whisker with Avenger Cards
KS3 / GCSE statistics. A lesson i did introducing box and whisker plots jumping on the avengers band wagon. Pupils shuffle avenger cards and create a tem of 11 heroes and draw a box plot of thier power and cunning, comparing the two and comparing with a friend to see who has the best team. Pupils then add soldiers and super heroes to the team to see affects on thier plots. Along with the cards i have larder A4 cards for the start of the lesson when i get 7 kids up to go through th efirst two box plots on the powerpoint.

A Collection of Transformations Power Points and worksheets, covers enlargement, translation, reflection and rotation. Has work and instructions for drawing a describing.

Monster Data Project
The file includes data on 500 monsters. Includes data on what sort they are, height, weight roar volume, number of scares, hours spent hiding. Pupils need to try and come up with a hypothesis, collect a sample and test the hypothesis.
Data is not random, there are connections and correlations to be discovered.
Nice Halloween task or project to get students ready for statistics coursework.
