This is a set of resources to introduce and practice telling the time in French, both with the 12 and 24-hour clock. The PowerPoint initially introduces the o’clock times with practice opportunities and then goes on to minutes past the hour. There are plenty of speaking practice activities, true/false activities and writing practice. The PowerPoint then goes on to minutes to the hour with practice and then further practice of all the 12-hour clock and some O/X games that can be played in two class teams. The 24-hour clock is then introduced with a whole range of practice activities, as with the 12-hour clock. To accompany the PowerPoint there is a worksheet for all the 12 activities, which are easily editable. Pupils will gain a good knowledge of telling the time in French, and will be able to both recognise time and tell the time.

This resource is to introduce and practise the weather in the present tense. The PowerPoint initially introduces 12 weather phrases, with practice exercises. Each weather phrase has a listening icon so that you can hear the weather phrase, for pupils to repeat. There are a range of activities on the PowerPoint (as well as an accompanying worksheet), including a listening exercise, reading activities, a speaking task, a short writing task and a word search. Pupils will gain a good knowledge of a wide range of weather phrases, and will be able to recognise and use them confidently.

For pupils studying the Perfect Tense, this is a whole set of resources based on an exciting murder mystery. It includes, not only the murder mystery, but starter activities, two plenaries, extension documents, lesson plans etc. Pupils work in groups and compete against the other groups to solve the murder first. This set of resources was used for both Ofsted and internally reviews lessons which were rated as 'outstanding'. The objectives are: To enhance thinking skills in order to participate effectively in a team and reflect on learning. Each PowerPoint takes you through how to (1) form the future tense with ‘aller’ and (2) form the simple future tense on a step-by-step basis, all grammar notes could be copied into ex books. There are lots of follow on exercises to check comprehension and a reading comprehension in each. These Power Points have been put together after using the grammar notes on which they are based for many years. This is a way of ensuring pupils understand and can easily use these tenses. This is a fun cultural resource that goes through various German Christmas traditions, in English, including some German words. This is aimed at pupils in both KS2 and KS3. There are 16 slides of information and pictures. After that, there is a multiple-choice quiz to check what pupils have understood and/or information they have retained. The quiz is on the PowerPoint (as are the answers) but there is also a separate worksheet version of the quiz. There is a writing / drawing activity for pupils to do at the end and then a separate word search document which has words from the activities.

Easily adaptable for home learning. This PowerPoint introduces pupils to a total of 36 items of clothing. The clothes are introduced in 3 sets of 12 items of clothing. In each set there is plenty of practice of each item. Pupils are able to practice answers to question about what they wear and what other people wear/ are wearing (present tense only). There are various activities for them to complete and a lengthy worksheet that accompanies the PowerPoint. Also enclosed in the pack is a word search document. After practicing all of the clothes, the PowerPoint revises colours and goes on to explain adjectival colour agreements with lots of examples. There is a table that pupils can copy or it can be printed, as a reference for all future work with colour adjectival agreements. There is then a range of exercises for pupils to practice talking about clothes and colours. This is a tried and tested method to ensure and check the comprehension throughout.

This is a set of resources to introduce and practise reading and writing in French. The first PowerPoint is a very basic story about a day out in the zoo (Une Journée au Zoo) and there are different activities to do, related to the story. The second PowerPoint is the story of the Three Little Pigs (Les Trois Petits Cochons) and there are again activities to complete about the story. The third PowerPoint is to get pupils to write their own stories in French (or use well-known stories). Pupils are to make short story books in groups (or individually). They should decide the age they are aiming their storybook at and write and illustrate a story. I have used card with my groups to make their books and I have a lovely set of storybooks! Pupils can also make a set of short activities to go with the book they have created, based on the type of activities in Power Points 1 and 2. These can then be used with classes in lower groups to read and complete the activities. It can be a really fun activity and pupils really enjoy doing it. This is ideal for pupils in years 8 or 9, prior to starting their GCSE course.

This is a booklet that can be printed for each student and contains over 150 general conversation questions. These questions have put together by researching all exam boards specifications and example materials. The questions are in themes are also broken down into sub-themes. Within each set of questions in a sub-theme, they have been classified into tenses so that pupils can be clear of the tense they need to use to answer the relevant question. These can form the basis of regular classroom practice for the speaking exam and if pupils are confident with these questions, they will also be able to answer many of the questions that will form part of the photo card section of the exam.

This is a set of 30 role-plays in a printable format to use for mock/ preparation/ class practice for speaking exams. These are all based on Theme 3 – Current and Future Study and Employment. They have been compiled by studying exemplar materials given by all exam boards. There are 15 foundation tier and 15 higher tier role-plays. There is a teacher’s pack for each set of role-plays, giving the teacher’s part for each conversation. There are also two Power Points, one for the foundation role-plays, one for the higher set. Each PowerPoint starts with an explanation of the role play section of the exam and then shows each role play card, followed by showing the (!) unknown question so that students can also prepare for that/ start to predict what the unknown question could be.
