An art lesson to explore and learn about different painting tools, techniques and effects.
LO: To explore how paint can create different effects
Slides with success criteria, an exploration task, a video from Kapow to explain the different techniques, guided task on how to create the different effects and plenary discussion questions.
Resources needed: paper, sketchbook, paint, palettes, water pots, spatulas, cotton buds, sponges, sand.
Can be a stand alone lesson or a good preparation lesson for another art piece. E.g. see my ‘Grant Wood farming landscape paingints LKS2’ lesson.
An art lesson linked to a Food and Farming topic. Could also be a stand alone art lesson.
LO: To create artwork inspired by a famous artist. Info about Grant Wood with links to a video and a website showing his paintings.
Slides with paintings to print and share plus a suggested template for scaffolding.
Used with Year 3 - great results.

A set of 40 words including phonetically decodable Alien words and real words to prepare children for the phonics screening check or to find phonics gaps for any age.
Made on google slides, downloaded as a pdf. For use on IWB or an iPad.

A task designed for KS2 which starts with some key vocabulary to define, followed by a selection of photos of foods from around the world. Research task to find out where these foods are produced.
Model text of 245 words based on Katie in London which can be used to focus on setting or character description. Includes character emotions, similes for London landmarks and time connectives.

Suitable for Year 2/3 but can be tweaked as appropriate.
A collection of 19 myths and legends from around the world. These are around 250 words each in length. They were created for Year 3 to learn and retell for an oral storytelling lesson. They could be used for many purposes in Years 1 to 6.
A model text for a persuasive writing unit based on the Burj Khalifa in Dubai. The text is approximately 200 words and includes writing tools such as:
Present tense
Adjectives for impact - superlatives
Connecting words (linking words) e.g. first, you could, also, finally
A question
Also included here is a picture story map to help learn and retell the model text, plus a visual slide show of the text with images.
You can innovate using other famous buildings, sites or locations.
