French present subjunctive battleship games Everyone loves a good game of BATTLESHIP, and the French classroom is a better place than any! You can use this classic game format to practice forming the PRESENT SUBJUNCTIVE. This resource includes 45 verbs. There are regular verbs and irregular verbs to practice with. 5 different versions of the game are included. *There is not an answer key included with this resource due to the number of responses possible. Devine Tête - French forehead guessing vocabulary game This forehead guessing game is very simple. It includes 55 cards with pictograms representing an object, an action or an animal. This version is a mishmash of themes. French and English versions of how to play this game are included. How to play: From 2 to 10 players. Make two or more teams, the team with the youngest player starts the game. Draw a card and without looking at it, show it to other members of your team. If possible, place it on his forehead with an adhesive. The player who draws the card must ask questions in order to guess what is on the card. The other members of the team answer only by “YES”, “NO” or “sometimes” or another word that can guide his or her teammates. No gestures or noises are allowed. Au Restaurant - French 20 questions game - No prep printable speaking activity The game of 20 questions is a fun and effective way to practice forming French questions and in this version of the game, students will learn over 50 nouns and verbs that follow a restaurant theme. This game work for any level as it is written in French and English. Want a real challenge for your upper levels or immersion students? Use the French only version! French Christmas skit and reading comprehension - Noël - Mini-dialogue This is a French dialogue about Christmas between two people. The title of this skit is Le Père Noël est occupé. Short skits or dialogues like this one can be used in many ways during the weeks leading up to Christmas. Have students work in pairs or small groups to read through the skit and maybe even perform it for the class! This skit can also be used as an individual reading comprehension assessment. 14 reading comprehension questions are included. The skit can be printed on one side of a sheet of paper and the questions on the other for a really easy, NO PREP Christmas activity. The grammar level is intermediate. Most of the verbs are in the present or passé composé, and very few pronouns are used. Your students will learn a lot of new Christmas vocabulary, and they’re going to have a great time with this activity! Everything is written in French only.

This is a set of 140 French relative pronouns practice cards focusing on QUI - QUE - OÙ - DONT. These cards are so much more fun (and challenging) than classic worksheets. There’s lots of repetition, and that’s what our students need to practice and master these confusing relative pronouns. My students find it particularly fun to use these cards as a guessing game with a partner or small group, and even the mysterious DONT becomes a lot easier! Each card displays an image, and beneath the image it is written how to say it in French. For example, C’est un lave-vaisselle. Students are prompted to say at least two sentences using relative pronouns to describe the image, and their partner(s) have to guess what it is. At the top of the card it may say C’est quelque chose que… or C’est quelque chose dont… and at the bottom of the card it may say C’est quelque chose où… or C’est quelque chose qui… Students have to finish the sentences using correct grammar, and they need to give enough information for their partner to make an intelligent guess. In the beginning, it can be very difficult for students to formulate their own sentences, and that’s why there are two sets of 70 cards included with this resource. SET ONE: The cards have two clues already written on them. This is a nice way for students to warm up to the activity, understand how it works, and get in some valuable practice and examples. In this version, students read the clues to their partner(s) and soak in the grammar while their peers practice their listening skills. SET TWO: These are the same cards, but the clues are not written on them. Students will have already practiced with SET ONE, and should be able to come up with their own sentences (and if they remember the ones from SET ONE… all the better)! The only clues they are given is whether they should follow the prompt with a subject or verb since those rules can be tricky and hard to remember. Aller Present Tense Game - Quel Dommage! When you are teaching or reviewing the verb ALLER in the present tense, your students will have a great time practicing with this hands on game: QUEL DOMMAGE!! This is a review game in which students play by filling in the blanks with the verb in parentheses (aller) in the present tense. An answer key is included. The verb aller is essential to forming a strong base knowledge of French, yet it can be difficult to master without lots of practice and review. You can pull this game out time and time again over the course of the years for a no-prep activity. Detailed instructions on how to play are included so that even subs can have your students play this fun game when you need to be away. How to play QUEL DOMMAGE: All you have to do is print the numbered game cards on heavy paper or card stock and cut them out. If you laminate them you’ll have a no prep activity ready to go for years to come! Put all of the game cards in a box and divide your students into small teams. Give each team gets a box of questions and a copy of the answer key. Students must fill in the blanks by conjugating the indicated verb, and then speak the sentence correctly. Each of the 7 “families of cards” begins with one of the following, and conjugations in the present tense are used in the JE - TU - IL - NOUS - VOUS - ILS forms. Je suis + emotion Je ne suis pas + emotion Est-ce que je suis + emotion Includes: How to play 42 playing cards to print on heavy paper or card stock This card game is an excellent way to practice and memorize verb conjugations. It will have your students speaking to each other in French the whole time! They will make affirmative and negative statements and will use EST-CE QUE to form simple questions. One player distributes five cards to each player (2 to 4 per group). The rest of the cards are placed in the “pioche”. One player begins the game by asking another player to give him a card. He or she might say, “Est-ce que tu es triste?” The goal is to come up with complete families. The different verbs represent the families. There are 6 cards to a family (JE - TU - IL - NOUS- VOUS - ILS). Students will find it helpful to group together the cards that have the same picture at the top (flower, flip-flops, etc.) If the player doesn’t have it, he says “pioche”.
