Learners can also use some of the techniques listed to helps them to write a persuasive article or speech. 11X A4 display posters. GCSE AQA Power and Conflict - Ozymandias. Key quotes to display on your classroom walls. There are also two documents attached containing 11 flashcards. They contain the quotes that are printed on the posters. Students can cut out these cards and laminate them for revision practice. You could also get your students to cut out each quote and stick them into their workbooks. They can then critically analyse each quote.

Quotes Double-sided. Printed double-sided on A4 paper. 2 cards per sheet. Each card, on the reverse, has a number of key quotes that connect to each quote. These can be cut-out and laminated to be used as revision cards In order to print correctly, print ‘double sided’ whilst also choosing the ‘flip on short edge’ option.

A fun game to get your learners to remember the key plot points in Macbeth! Ideal for low / mid level learners. Instructions Split the students into equal teams. Twenty questions will appear on the interactive whiteboard. The aim of the game is for each group to answer the questions correctly and to solve the riddle that is hidden behind of the boxes. Each team, when it is their turn to go, will pick a question that they want to answer. They will then state the number assigned to this question. If the team gets the question right, then the teacher will click on the box and the box will then disappear. A section of the hidden riddle will then be revealed and the team can then take a guess at solving the riddle. Each question that’s answered correctly is worth 1 point! If the hidden riddle is correctly solved by the team, then this is worth an extra five points! The team with the most points, wins! The great thing about the game is that even if the riddle is solved, learners can continue to answer the questions to gain points!

47X revision cards. These cards name poetic terms and devices that are useful for students to know whilst studying poetry. Each card features the poetic name or term and the definition. Some cards also feature pictures and examples. Three sheets will be provided and each sheet contains 16 cards that are in alphabetical order. Can be cut out and used as revision cards or used as a revision guide

Practice questions for E3 learners which are similar to questions they will be asked on their Functional Skills English examination. 1 source document and 12 X questions which are similar to those the learners will encounter when completing their reading test (NCFE & City and Guilds criteria) Answers are provided so learners can self-mark.

2 X Worksheets An A3 PDF Revision Sheet. A resource to use as your class reads through the novel. After each chapter, get your learners to write a short summary of that chapter. They can also note down any characters that are featured / mentioned in the novel. This can be useful for when learners need to revise the novel and its key scenes. An A4 PDF Task Sheet A resource to help learners can identify and analyse the different characters as they read through the novel. They can write down a description of the character and their personality traits.

A fun English game designed for my KS3 class to help them with their creative writing. The board contains a series of 5 prompts which will allow the learner to build their story: setting, main character, genre, main theme and conflict. Give the student a dice piece. They will roll the dice piece 5 times moving from left to right of the board. for example: The first number is a 4 which refers to the setting. Therefore, their story will be set on a train. The next number rolled is a 1, which mean the genre will be gothic / horror. the learner will then write a short story based on what they rolled on the prompt board. # E.g: A gothic short story set on a train featuring a teenage boy. The main theme is survival with the conflict in the story being the character vs the supernatural.

An English Reading Comprehension Skimming & Scanning Activity. This would be ideal for E3 Functional Skills learners and pupils in the KS3 & KS4 age groups. Based on the topic of Black Lives Matters , learners will read a source document before answering 8 skimming and scanning questions based on the source document. Answers are provided so learners can self mark.

A 31 page activity booklet which will help learners improve their descriptive writing. Each activity contains a colourful,detailed image that can to be used as stimuli for descriptive writing. There is a starter task that will ask the learner four questions that will help them in planning/ writing their descriptive piece. There are 14 other activities to complete.

This is a Functional Skills practice test / activity booklet. To make this fun for my class I based the activities on a conspiracy theory: the flat Earth theory. The first task is a practice test with ten questions ( answers are provided). These are similar questions to what they may be asked on their reading exam. Students will read a source document which includes information on the flat Earth theory. The second activity is a writing task and the learner will be asked to write an article for their collage magazine. They will write an article that informs people about this theory and also will give their own views on the subject. The last activity is a speaking and listening activity, where the learner will prepare and take part in a group debate based on this topic. This is good practice for their upcoming exam.

This is a 5 page booklet where the learner will read two source documents on the following subject: fur farming. They will answer a compare and contrast assessment and will plan their answer by using a Venn Diagram. They will then answer the question which will be worth 3 marks on their exam.

The learner will read part of Harry The Philosopher’s Stone: Chapter 1. They will then answer 15 questions based on this extract. Answers are provided so that learners can self mark.
