Hi welcome to my shop!
I'm currently Head of Humanities, but I've also been head of department at a number of other schools, not to mention head of year. So I have a lot of high quality resources to share.
I take real pride in trying to ensure my resources are well presented, clear, easy to use and of course challenging and engaging for the students. They have taken me a lot of time to make, but hopefully they will save you a lot of time.
If you have any feedback then please review me!

UPDATE - I have now included a powerpoint to guide the students through filling in the Transition Passport
This is a useful and fun welcome booklet aimed at students who are moving from Primary to Secondary School.
It contains a number of activities designed to help students to settle into a new school and get to know their class mates.
This booklet is also useful for:
-Tutor group activities in form time.
-PSHE lessons.
-Getting to know you activities.
-Summer school
-Breakfast club
-Homework activities
This lessons looks at the Greater and Lesser Jihad and explores the Muslim attitude to war.
The pupils really enjoyed this lesson and felt that they understood this topic much more clearly after this lesson.
It helps pupils to understand many of the misconceptions surrounding Jihad, and Islam in general and helps them to understand the positive aspects of Islamic attitdues to violence and war.
An interesting and fun lesson that challenges what the pupils may have previously believed.
Originally created for KS4 RS, it can easily be adapted for KS3 or KS5.
This lesson looks at the issues of Forgiveness and Reconciliation in two religions (Christianity and Islam).
It uses religious quotes and teachings to explain what both relgions teach about Forgiveness and Reconciliation.
It allows the pupils to compare and contrast two contrasting religions and see if there are more silimarities or differences between the two.
This lesson is quite extensive and can be completed over two hours (or one lesson and a homework).
An interesting and important lesson.
This geography lesson gets the students to think about what a place actually is.
It is designed to kick off a year 7 or 8 unit looking at geographical skills.
The students are asked to consider:
-What makes a place
-What their place is like
-What the difference between human and physical geography is.
An excellent lesson.
This is a Loop revision activity for Nazi Germany. It works on the same principle as flash cards, but the key words on one side don’t match the definition on the other side. In order to complete the Loop they need to find the student who has the key word that matches their definition (read the instructions below).
It is a really fun activity that I mainly use for revision but can be used as a starter, a plenary or a fun activity.
Instructions for use:
1 - Download and Print off the sheets.
2 - Cut around the outside edge of all the cards.
3 - Fold over the cards in the middle and glue them so on one side you have key words and on the other side you have definitions.
4 - Laminate the sheets (optional)
5 - Cut out the individual cards.
6 - Give out ALL the cards (at least one per person)
7 - Choose a random student to read out their definition, the rest of the class listen and whoever has the correct key word SHOUT IT OUT!
8 - This second student then flips over their card and reads aloud their definition.
9 - You keep going until you complete the loop and get back to the first student
TIP 1 - To make it more effective and more competitive you should time each successful loop and post the times. Get the students to compete to try to beat their past times and other classes times.
TIP 2 - Want to make it more difficult? Make the students swap cards every time someone makes a mistake or every time someone calls out. That way they will follow the rules and be forced to learn all the cards.
This lesson looks at the tragic story of the colonisation of Australia and the destruction of the Aboriginal way of life.
There are several resources you can use for this lesson (and you might want to use this over two or three lessons - there is a lot here!).
This is a good intro lesson to colonialism, the Aboriginal people or a skills lesson to look at important historical questions.
The students investigate whether or not we should apologise for the actions of our ancestors, and how it could/should be made right today.
A really good lesson.
Did the British Empire do more harm than good?
That is the overall question that the students will attempt to answer in this lesson.
It looks at the individual experiences of a number of people who were involved in the British Empire and draws them together to try to formulate an overall picture and answer the big question.
A really good end to the Empires unit of work, or a unit on the Industrial Revolution.
This is a fun revision activity designed for students studying GCSE/A Level Religious Studies. It can also be used for KS3 as part of a lesson.
This is based on the popular New York Times Game Connections this fun revision game is designed to help the students to prepare for the exams or end of year assessments.
The topics I have included are:
-Christian Beliefs
-Marriage and Family
-Living the Christian Life
-Matters of Life and Death
The game is simple; Students need to group together four words and figure out what the connection is between them. But many of the words can fit into multiple groups so they need to be careful.
**I have included an answer sheet to make it easier for the teacher!
**
As a bonus I have also included a blank template so students/teachers can make their own connections. This could also be used for other topics/subjects. It can also be used for KS3/4 or 5.
If you like this resource please rate and review it!
This is an fantastic assembly that explores the current Gender Pay Gap in the UK and the reasons why there is still a gap.
The assembly covers:
-Life for women 100 years ago compared to today
-History of the gender pay gap
-Reasons why there is still a gap today
-Gender pay gap around the world
-Case study - Iceland
-What can be done about the gap today
-Video and quotes
This is a powerful and important message that all young people need to hear. This assembly was delivered to year 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11. It could easily be delivered to KS2 or KS5.
This assembly was observed and rated as outstanding for its content, message, visuals and delivery.
This is an outstanding assembly about the future and the choices students will have to make to get ahead of the competition.
This is a perfect assembly for student building up to their exams. The assembly gets them to think like employers and ask them who they would choose when faced with three applicants and ten different areas.
For each area (such as punctuality, references, experience, appearance etc.) the students are presented with three options and they have to pick the one they think would make the best impression.
The point being these are all situations they may well be faced with in the future and they need to make the right choices to get ahead.
This assembly also includes a video (which is optional based on how much time you have) as well as a powerful message.
This assembly was delivered to year 11 and year 13 but would also be suitable for KS3.
The assmbly should take about 15 to 20 min to deliver (less if you don’t show the video clip).

This assembly explains the back ground to pancake day and looks at why millions of people eat pancakes on Shrove Tuesday.
-It covers the history of Shrove Tuesday
-The meaning of lent
-The purpose of fasting
-How lent is celebrated around the world (in seven different countries)
-Some fun facts about pancake day
-Why many non-religious people take part in lent
-How they can take part in lent (even if they aren’t Christian)
It’s a well resourced, presented and explained assembly. They students should not only enjoy it but also reflect on their own lives.
This is aimed at KS3/KS4 but could easily work for KS2 or even KS5.
You could also use this in tutor time.
A useful lesson that teaches the students how to use scale on a personal, local, national and international level.
This lesson is aimed at KS3 but could easily be adapted for KS2 or KS4.
It is a skills based lesson focused on encouraging students to learn how to use scale on different levels.
This is a KS3 geography lesson designed to introduce the basic concepts of geography to students.
This lesson is focused on making connections between the world on different scales.
A good lesson that enables the students to think about how the world intereacts on a local, national and international scale.
The students will learn how to see connects between the local, national and international.
A really good lesson.
This lesson is to help the students to plan their revision by doing a twist on the idea of a post mortem.
While a post mortem is after the event, the pre-mortem does the same thing but before the event (or exam). So instead of thinking about why they failed, they will think about why they might fail and try to put into place a plan to prevent that happening!
A useful and thought provoking lesson.
This is a clever lesson where the students are introduced to human rights and have to imagine a word where the students take place in a market place activity to buy and sell human rights.
This was made for a citizenship lesson but could easily work in a geography lesson, or humanities or RS.
A fun but informative (and important) lesson,
An interesting KS3 lesson that is designed to introduce students to geography and bring it to life.
This is designed to introduce students to geographical skills and concepts that they will build on in future lessons.
An enjoyable and well paced lesson that builds on pupils prior knowledge.
It includes homework tasks.
This lesson looks at the Indigenous Australians (or Aboriginies) as a case study for religions in other parts of the world.
The students investigate the aboriginal way of life and beliefs to learn what life may have been like in Britain before Christianity arrived.
The lesson covers:
-History
-Life style
-Beliefs
-Culture/Medicine
-Future
A fascinating lesson that is a good into to both Aboriginies and other world ancient religions.
This excellent assembly looks at the issue of mental health and tries to strip away some of the taboos surrounding talking about mental health issues.
It includes the sad story of Robin Williams and looks at a advert from a Canadian charity focused on Mental Health.
A really useful and powerful assembly that can be held at any time of year (but is best in May during MHA Week)
Highly recommended.
