This lesson was designed after completing the UCL course on teaching the Holocaust. It focuses on Pre War Jewish life in Europe and is an introduction to the Holocaust topic. Students cannot necessarily understand the gravity of what was lost in the Holocaust if they do not have a grasp of Jewish life and contribution to life before it. This is a fully resourced lesson, no textbooks required. Includes mindmap template, evidence sheets for group work, maps and a plenary activity designed to examine and discredit antisemitic stereotypes using the content learned in the lesson. This lesson was designed after completing the UCL course on Understanding the Holocaust. This lesson is lesson 2 in my sequence of learning and examines the nature of antisemitic prejudice in Germany as well as escalation of persecution in order for students to better understand how and why having rights taken away is such a dangerous step.
