This lesson introduces learners to the contents and purpose of a business plan, we discuss the sections of a plan, we then go on to look at an infamous example of what it shouldn’t be like in Solomon’s plan presented to Claude Littner in the Apprentice. A 3 mark question with a model answer, a few short tasks before going onto creating a business plan in groups, a template has been provided. Students present back their plans to the class and the class are provided with a sheet to write WWW and EBI with their peers presentations.
A group task where they match parts of the business plan to the different areas of the business plan - answers included.

This double lesson introduces learners to the three methods of building public relations. We start by looking at some real examples of product placement such as Krispy Kreme doughnuts in the Power Rangers movie, we then look at the pros and cons of this method of PR. We then watch some TV adverts with celebrities endorsing products before going onto the pros and cons of this method of PR. Finally, we look at press and media releases such as Apple’s annual iPhone event in September, although emphasis on how these methods can apply to a small business context for R067. Some consolidation questions before ending with a research task, debate and box plenary.

In this lesson, learners are introduced to the bottom-up approach to offender profiling, following on from the top-down approach.
We start by discussing what the bottom-up approach might involve before looking into the two branches of the approach - investigative psychology and geographic profiling. We look at a case study on ‘the railway rapist’ and a video on the Rachel Nickell case. Evaluation task and discussion, MCWs, a 16 mark exam style question with example paragraphs, peer assessment grid so students can reflect on WWW/EBI and make improvements. True or false questions, a debate task, 2 kahoot quizzes and we finish with a box plenary.

Offender profiling - The bottom up approach
This lesson introduces learners to the growing importance of the role technology plays in business. We start by looking at some businesses that operating as both online and physical stores, some discussion on what type of online businesses students have used.
A 3 mark question with a model answer is included as well as a 12 mark question based on a new online retailer that has gone physical recently. Structure guidance for the 12 mark question, with a model conclusion for students to look at before peer assessing and improving their own answers.

The second part to economic influences introduces learners to the stages in the business cycle and how each affects businesses and consumers, we also look at different types of tax and their implcications. Finally we look at exchange rates and their impacts. Two guided research tasks, a link to a kahoot quiz and box plenary to finish off with.

This lesson introduces learners to inflation and interest rates - economic influences is quite a large topic area to cover so it is split into two parts. We start by looking at some shocking (for students) price changes in the last few decades before looking at how inflation is calculated and the implications on businesses and concumsers.
We then go onto looking at interest rates and again, implications on consumers and businesses. Two essay exam style questions included on each topic - both with structure guidance and concise model answers to help students with peer assessments.

This double lesson introduces learners to the meaning of quality in business, and the different quality management systems that are used. We start by looking at quality control and quality assurance, animated images to show the difference between the two processes and their implications, with real life examples from car manufacturers. Knowledge consolidation activities included.

This double lesson introduces learners to the concept of specialisation with an emphasis on comparative advantage. We start by looking at what specialisation is with examples of what some countries specialise in. We then look at a basic example of two countries producing two goods to really break down the concept of absolute and comparative advantage in an engaging way. We start by discussing what the role of the father might be and how it has changed, before looking at numerous studies with different findings on the role of the father. This lesson introduces learners to different types of strategy businesses can adopt as demonstrated through Ansoff’s Matrix. We start by looking at Ansoff’s and the four types of strategies involved here, each with their pros and cons and examples. We then go on to read a brief case study on a plumbing company, wth an exam style question and a model answer to self assess with.
In the second lesson, a case study on Toyota and their strategy. This case study comes with a 4 and 16 mark style question, both with guidance and concise model answers for peer assessment. 3.8.1 Strategic direction: choosing which markets to compete in and what products to offer
This lesson introduces learners to corporate cultures, and the different types that exist. We start with looking at some real examples before identifying how culture is formed, we look at the four different types of cultures that students are required to learn, followed by what influences these four types of cultures. Sometimes culture would need to change and we explore the reasons for this in an engaging way.
We then go on to read a concise case study about a company’s culture and how it affects their performance, a 12 mark question with a concise model answer for students to peer assess with. A research task and box plenary to finish off with.
