~ A present tense reading with lots of ser/estar describing a young woman who is a medical student volunteering in Peru. The reading is prefaced by new vocabulary.
~A worksheet with 12 true/false reading comprehension questions as well as a short writing assignment.
~Also included is the same reading with blanks in place of the ser/estar verbs for students to fill in. You can then read the story out loud or distribute the reading for students to correct their own answers.
~Answer key. (2pgs)
Variations: Have students underline all the uses of ser/estar in the reading and discuss why they are used in class. Have students show each other pictures of friends/family and have them describe them using ser/estar.

Activity idea: After reading, have students underline all the reflexive verbs they find, then have them discuss their own routine that morning or write about it for homework.
This 4-page file includes:
~A German reading written from the perspective of a 12-year-old boy living in southern Germany. He talks about Christmas traditions in his region in general as well as how his family celebrates. It also includes a description of the history of the Christmas tree!
The reading is in a mixture of present and past tenses and includes a glossary of new vocabulary. Includes reading comprehension questions.

Activity idea: Put students in groups of 2-4 and give each student 2-4 cards. Have them describe themselves in the first person for one card and in the third person for the other card. Once completed, have students create a card for themselves and a friend (either in class or for homework) to practice with.
This 3-page file includes:
~A Spanish reading featuring two separate dialogues with two patients that go to visit the doctor. One patient has the flu and the other an injury. New vocabulary is featured at the top including the verb ‘doler’. Both dialogues feature a lot of Ud. command forms as the doctor gives each patient advice.
~A Worksheet with 3 parts: 8 reading comprehension questions, 8 short answer questions where students need to find the Spanish command forms from the script and write them in and a guided conversation practice.
Extension: Have students take turns role-playing going to the doctor and explaining in Spanish what is wrong with them. The other student practices giving advice in the command form!
