To help students with their aural skills, I have made a worksheet for students to focus on four elements. Texture, dynamics, tempo, and instruments.
I use this grid system for students to help them focus and listen to music outside of a question or exam paper.
This is suitable for any music class: Junior Cycle, Leaving Cert and general music appreciation
Please make sure to give feedback and a rating if you are happy with this product! Thank you very much!
This is a blank music stave with two pages, one is your standard single line stave and the second page is for bass and treble cleff.
This is a suitable resource for taster music classes or if a student forgets their manuscript copy.
Enjoy!
This resource is aimed to help students learn to clap out the rhythms they see on a piece of music.
There are two sheets. One sheet helps those who prefer counting with numbers, the other page counts rhythms using rhymes and words.
There are also blank spaces for students to write their own words/phrases.
This is a way for students to recap the elements of music. This activity can be done in pairs or individually.
The first page is for students to try remember and recall the elements of music. The second page is to recall and create a vocabulary bank to describe/explain each element of music.
This is a great way to ease students back into the music class.
Thank you for shopping with me! Happy Learning!
This is a guide to Junior Cycle Music Processing Effects (May also be helpful for the analysis of Queen Bohemian Rhapsody in Leaving Cert Music)

(F1) Aural Lesson Worksheet – ‘Les Toreadors’ From Carmen Suite No.1
Home > Downloads > Secondary > 1st Year > (F1) Aural Lesson Worksheet – ‘Les Toreadors’ From Carmen Suite No.1
This is a worksheet to accompany a listening to the piece ‘Les Toreadors’ from Carmen Suite No.1. This is by the Romantic Composer Georges Bizet.
Many students will recognise this piece from being played on the Podiums at Formula One races. So this is a great piece to bring in students prior knowledge.
This worksheet includes:
A section where students are to carry out independent learning (to find out 3 facts about the composer)
A section where students discuss whether they have heard the piece before and what emotion it evokes
A section to analyse the music, discussing tempo, dynamics……etc and to discuss features of romantic era music
A section for students to draw an image of what comes to mind when they hear the music
This resource is great for students to stick into their music notebooks. They simply fill in every music word they learn that corresponds to each element. e.g in ‘Tempo’ students can write allegro, largo… to build their vocabulary to describe tempo and so on.
This is great as once this is in their music notebooks, they have a place to refer to while learning to describe music.

This is a worksheet aimed at looking at how music plays a role in film/tv. Music has the power to change how a viewer perceives a movie, therefore students can have some fun with the short film ‘Piper’ (which can be found on Disney+).
Youtube also has great music to use alongside changing the mood of music, or students can pick a song to change the mood. Simply mute the ‘Piper’ video and play a different song in the background.
This worksheet includes questions about:
The role music has on mood in films
How changing the music in a film can change the story
Section to create a graphic score
