This KS4 GCSE Dance Component 1: Set Phrase Breathe 3 week Delivery PP is for teachers of AQA GCSE Dance who are preparing their pupils for their Solo exam. The PowerPoint presentation set over approximately 3 weeks guides pupils though the set phrase: Breathe, using all the resources that the AQA website provides; including still images from the video links and copied text from the breakdown tables. The PowerPoint is designed for ease of delivery and to answer pupils (and teachers) questions regarding the steps of each set phrase. I delivered this SOW by firstly asking pupils to get into groups of 3 and labelling themselves A, B and C. As would firstly come to the front to learn the phrase on the board that I would demonstrate and break down before returning to their group to teach the phrase to their group. Bs would learn the next phrase and Cs the final phrase. All 3 pupils would then work together to practice the section that they had learnt before a whole class performance to the metronome or a piece of music of 105bpm. I decided to do it this way to promote independence and increase self-confidence as both are extremely important for the successful delivery of the set phrases in the solo exam. I adapted the PowerPoint into a homework booklet so that pupils could take it home to practice. The homework booklet is included in this resource. This resource is for teachers of AQA GCSE dance. This is my years worth of Year 10 planning/PowerPoints/resources. Each half term focuses on one of the professional works from the GCSE Dance anthology; exploring the professional work through choreography, performance and appreciation tasks (following the advice from AQA). This resource is tried and tested and I am proud to say that my pupils have enjoyed the variety of tasks included and have felt confident completing year 10 in preparation for Year 11. This resource is for EYFS teachers teaching dance through the Physical Education part of the national curriculum. This Noah’s Ark scheme of work has been designed to inspire creativity in young children in a fun and energetic way. Throughout the 6 lessons, pupils will be developing their listening and communication skills as well as their dance skills; linking actions to the lyrics of a popular nursery rhyme. Within this resource there are 6 detailed 30 min lesson plans including: Aims and objectives, descriptions of activities (starter, warm up, main activity, plenary etc), Organisation information and ‘coaching’ points. Music: ‘The Animals Went in 2 by 2’ on YouTube (The one with rain sound effects at the beginning)

This resource is a PowerPoint where on each slide is a stage type: thrust stage, end on stage, in the round and traverse stage. I have printed (A3) and laminated each slide to display in my dance studio. I refer to the stage types at KS3 when asking pupils to sit in the audience, ready for a class performance/assessment. “Year 7, take your places in the audience of a thrust stage.” This is also really useful to use as an aid for class management. At KS4, the display acts as a revision aid.

This resource is a music file that I created using audio clips from the 6 professional works from the dance anthology. The clips have been mixed together to create an anthology megamix. I have used the megamix within 2 of my uploaded resources (KS4 GCSE Dance Infra and Y9 GCSE Dance Taster Anthology). It can be used within lessons and/or used as the music for a performance piece. The Let It Grow SOW has been designed with high ability EYFS children in mind but could also be taught to KS1 children in relation to a ‘Plants’ topic. The 6 week SOW structures together a final performance about the plant cycle from seeds, into a flower and then returning once again to seeds. Throughout the 6 lessons, pupils will develop their spatial awareness and will be encouraged to use their creativity and imagination to explore different actions using the plant cycle as their stimulus. Within this resource there are 6 detailed 30 min lesson plans including: Aims and objectives, descriptions of activities (starter, warm up, main activity, plenary etc), Organisation information and ‘coaching’ points. For music, I use ‘Let it Grow’ from the movie ‘The Lorax’ that can be found on YouTube.

Using the professional work taught at GCSE level, it will allow pupils to explore the professional work through performance, choreography and appreciation activities suitable for their age range. The delivery PowerPoint includes starters in the form of ‘bell activities’/‘talking points’ for each lesson, homework and assessment activities at week 3 and week 6 to record progress. ‘A Linha Curva’ is an upbeat fun SOW that my year 7 pupils have loved. Over the 6 lessons, pupils will explore the GCSE Set Dance: Shift along with appreciation tasks linked with section A of the written exam paper (component 2). E.g. The components of Dance (actions, dynamics, space and relationships), performance skills etc. PLEASE NOTE: I have created this resource to follow the GCSE Taster : Breathe 6 lesson SOW as some of the exam questions relate to the Breathe set dance. The Shift breakdown sections were created using the resources on the AQA website and print screened images of the YouTube video of Shift. The PowerPoint also includes starters (bell activities), lesson objectives, homework tasks and assessment material. This resource also includes homework handouts. Enjoy!

This resource has been designed for teachers of GCSE dance revising choreography in preparation for the written exam. This lesson has been created to provide a way for dance students to revise in a fun and interactive way. Prior to the lesson, decide how you are going to divide your class into 6 groups (ideally a mixture of high and low ability in each group). After the starter activity on the PowerPoint give each group one of the texts as a stimulus. As a group, pupils can discuss how the text can be used to create choreography in relation to each of the questions on the PowerPoint (I allowed around 3 min per slide). Encourage pupils to write notes on the sheet with the text on as these can be used as posters in the classroom and/or be photocopied and given to all students for further revision. After pupils have completed notes for each of the questions, give pupils a copy of the questions as a mock test and allow pupils 20 min to complete the test using their text as their stimulus. Within this resource I have included the notes that my pupils made as an example.

This is a resource for teachers of Pearson BTEC Level 1/Level 2 Tech Award in Performing Arts Unit 1: Exploring the Performing Arts choosing to study Kenrick Sandy and Emancipation of Expressionism for one of their practitioners. This resource includes 7 1-2 hour workshops (3 practical and 4 theory) That I created in the summer holidays and taught to my Y10s in the 1st half term of the school year. I found that it was a great way to introduce Kenrick and EofE before the assignment brief was officially launched. Each workshop is complete with bell activities and TIF tasks. Links to YouTube clips are provided. Some workshops include homework tasks. I created the 7 workshops with the unit 1 specification in mind, with my knowledge/experience of teaching EofE as part of the GCSE and my new found knowledge after reading the EofE Education pack available on the BoyBlue website. I refer to pages/sections from the education pack in some of the workshops. Please note, some of my activity ideas are not my own and are what has been suggested in the Boy Blue education pack. I do recommend that anyone teaching EofE, purchase the education pack alongside my resource. However, you will be able to teach all of the workshops I have provided even if you have not got a copy of the education pack.

This is the 2 year KS4 GCSE dance plan with assessment dates that I have been using since the new AQA GCSE dance course began in accordance with the AQA GCSE Dance planning advice given on their website. My tried and tested delivery PowerPoints for each half term including starters, homework and assessment material can be found on my TES resource shop.

We have our Year 6 open evening coming up and the whole school theme is ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’. The creative Arts department has decided to split up into the different Harry Potter houses to provide an interactive experience for the y6 pupils to get involved in. For dance I chose Ravenclaw House (As Ravenclaw is the best!) and in the dance studio a charms class will be taking place. A selection of Y10 and Y12 pupils will be working in pairs. One pupil having the wand and the other being controlled by the wand as if under a spell. As the wand moves around, the pupil ‘under the spell’ will move around mimicking the actions, dynamic and space that relates to the wands movements. After the Y6s have watched a demonstration, they will be able to take part either as the person controlling the wand or the one ‘under the spell’. The aim of the Charms lesson will be for pupils to learn how to control the movements of others with their wands. If they can learn to control the movements of others, they will be able to control the movements of fantastic beasts. In the background, a mixture of music featured in the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts films will be played and a mixture of blue and silver gel lights will be lit in the dance studio (for Ravenclaw) to create a magical ambiance. The Art department kindly made me 6 wands that I could use. In this resource there is a PowerPoint slide that you can project throughout the lesson. I have created this 6 week ‘All Around the World’ home learning project with the intention of setting my Year 9 dance class one task a week (while working from home due to COVID19), starting on the 1st June. Each week investigates dance related to a particular country/continent and throughout the project, pupils who engage with the task will develop skills and knowledge needed at KS4, whether pupils are planning to study BTEC or GCSE dance.
