A PowerPoint resource for Seamus Heaney's Blackberry-Picking. The poem is broken into small pieces and explained with key words underlined with several questions posed to students. The meaning of certain phrases in the poem is also explored for example Heaney's personification of the blackberries.

An interview lesson for a mixed ability group of year 7 students introducing them to the poem. The lesson opens by tapping into students’ initial thoughts of what things they do during Half Term Break (Mid Term Break). This, similar to the poem allows the students to empathise with Heaney through analysis of the poem through Q&A discussion and a main exercise which asks students to find poetic techniques.

Before studying Benjamin Zephaniah’s poem ‘Good Hope’, it is important to get a sense of what the students believe in. In the poem, Zephaniah repeats the phrase ‘I believe’ and this lesson is an opportunity for students to think about what they strongly believe in. This can be part of a wider writing project or as a way of getting students prepared for some of the topics in Zephaniah’s poem. The PowerPoint asks students questions to give them more ideas before they write on a planning sheet for what they believe in entitled ‘I Believe’. A PowerPoint presentation that analyses Bertie and Lionel's relationship in The Kings Speech. There are links to two particular scenes showing the development of the relationship embedded in the PowerPoint which are used for students to analyse. Students are then asked to work in pairs to create a timeline of this relationship. This lesson covers all of Act 1 Scene 3 where both Macbeth and Banquo meet the Three Witches. The onus of this lesson is to show students the start of Macbeth’s ambition. Students are asked to ‘put themselves in the shoes’ of both Macbeth and Banquo. They then answer a series of questions before analysing small extracts that show Macbeth’s internal struggle and also ambition.
