In addition, each lesson attempts to extend the use of German to match the requirements of GCSE Higher Tier. This presentation explains and practises the Nominative and Accusative Cases for the subject and object of the sentence, which it practises through a simple re-telling of Hamlet! There are grammatical tables and a translation exercise and the lesson rounds of by explaining subject and object pronouns, for which a mini whiteboard would be handy!

In addition, each lesson attempts to extend the use of German to match the requirements of GCSE Higher Tier. This presentation explains how to connect clauses through the use of relative pronouns. It begins with the Nominative case, which it practises via Tic Tac Toe and moves on to the other three cases, which it develops through translation activities, before showing the parallel with the interrogatives ‘wer’, ‘wen’, ‘wessen’, ‘wem’ and demonstrating when the relative pronouns is ‘was’. The final slide is a text about family, which includes many relative pronouns and which I’ve entitled ‘my relatives’.

Slides 5 and 11 contain the paradigm of ‘haben’ and ‘sein, which may be sung along to the tune of ‘Little, Little, Little Star’!
