Bienvenue ca va
This is an ideal first lesson with a year 7 class in September new to French. The powerpoint takes you through the step-by-step of handing out new books, going over expectations, discussing the importance of language learning and then some drilling of “Bonjour, ca va” vocabulary with suggested speaking games.
Using all three tenses simultaneously
This stand-alone lesson is a really useful lesson for any KS4 French class leading up to a 90 word writing task question. The subtopic of the lesson is healthy living but the powerpoint could be easily adapted to any topic in order to revise using all three tenses simultaneously in a piece of writing.

A mixture of different skill areas are targeted with a supported writing task, some translation into the target language and a speaking game of snakes and ladders. Vive le vent Christmas lesson
This lesson uses the traditional French song “Vive le vent” to focus on listening and transcription skills as well as a focus on phonics. A perfect lesson to end the term that still has an important skills focus.
French target language ticklist
This worksheet can be given to students to help encourage them to speak in French during the lesson. It includes a whole variety of sentences that when students say one they can tick the sheet. This can be made into a competition between who ticks the most phrases.

The objective of the lesson is for students to be able to say where they go on holiday- recapping countries, places (e.g. seaside/countrside/mountains) and also the present tense of aller. Skills focus is speaking so a game of battleships and noughts and crosses is included.
