One Less Pirate Treasure is a simple interactive whiteboard Maths game designed in PowerPoint that develops children’s early number skills. Children are presented with various arrangements of pirate coins in the ten-frame and calculate one less. Children click on the correct number digit on the number track to reveal the correct answer. This resource is ideal for use on the interactive whiteboard to develop perceptual and conceptual subisiting skills and for varied maths continuous learning provision within the classroom with an Easter theme. This resource presents varied assortments of Easter Eggs on each slide. Children view each slide and see if they can identify 5 eggs. How many different ways can they see five? For example, 1 red and 4 blue eggs makes 5; 2 yellow and 3 red eggs makes 5 etc… The subitising Easter Egg cards can be printed off and laminated for various games in continuous provision and small group activities. Game 1 - Find all the cards showing 5 eggs Game 2 - Find two cards that make 5 altogether Game 3 - Pick a card. Identify the amount and add one more egg to each card shown Game 4 - Roll a die. Find the matching number of Easter eggs. The winner is the one who collects the most cards within a time limit. Roll a six have another try. Game 5 - Pick a card. Double the amount of Easter eggs. Children count the number of pancakes presented in each ten-frame and click the matching numeral on the number track. This IWB game activity works well as part of whole class teaching and learning. Next, children are asked to say how many more pancakes would make 10 altogether. Children/teacher/TA click on the matching numeral on the number track to show how many more pancakes would make 10. Children are presented with 3 numeral cards and have to determine whether the cards are correctly or incorrectly ordered. Children / teacher can click ‘yes’ or ‘no’ to show whether they think the three numerals are ordered correctly. Nine different numeral sequences are included. Please note that, the slides are easily editable to include sequences of 3 numerals beyond 10 if you wish to add greater challenge. A simple interactive white board activity/maths game that is great for modelling counting back from 10, The slides are fully interactive and the activity links well with White Rose Spring term planning session 6 “Counting back from 10 - Ten in a Bed”. Children are presented with a variety of different cartoon animals in the bed and explore what would be one less by counting back from 10 using the Ten in a Bed nursery rhyme. Following this different numbers of animals are presented in the bed. Children need to count the number of animals in the bed and click on the matching digit card. Larger images of all the animals included in the Powerpoint are included at the end of the slides. These can be made into puppets which can be printed off and laminated for exploration in whole class provision or works well as a small group activity. Children can use their puppets to show how many animals are in the bed and practice counting back from 10.

Children are presented with 1 to 5 hearts in a variety of different arrangements. Children are encouraged to subitize (instantly say the number of hearts without counting) and click on the matching number. Fifteen different arrangments are shared in the slides. At the end of the slides 12 smaller flash cards showing different arrangements for 5 are shown to explore different ways of arranging the hearts. This leads to an exploratory activity during independent learning where children can investigate all the different ways of arranging 5 chocolate hearts in a box with nine spaces.
