This package is for teachers delivering the new 2022 spec for BTEC Tech Award in Health and Social Care Component 2.
For teachers following my SoW, this is for week 31 after the completion of Component 1.
There is one presentations, one is 26 slides and covers both geographical barriers and intellectual barriers and ways to overcome both as per PSA Task 3, with applied examples. There is guidance and options for students note taking which will be a source of reference in the PSA.
Students will be expected to know a range of potential barriers but the focus is on financial covered in the spec below and be able to recognise which barrier(s) apply and the most suitable ways to overcome these. In addition there is also suggestions how multiple barriers exist for one person.
Homework is set as the case studies they do not cover in the lesson so they have the full range from the spec.

T-Level Health Year 2 Occupational Specialism Assessment Supporting Adult Nursing Activity to guide students about the importance of building a detailed reflective portfolio using the Gibbs Reflective cycle.
Advice for students;
When building your reflective portfolio note the themes and the K&S points clearly at the top.
Collate these into an order you will understand, perhaps using folder dividers. This clear labeling will speed up finding and referring to them in your Assignment 3, you have only 45 minutes to prepare.
Relate aspects of the reflection to things like a specific part of the NMC code, the CQC 5 fundamental standards, legislation, policy and the 6C’s.

A1 Diagnosing or determining additional needs
• Definitions of mild, moderate, severe and profound learning disabilities.
• Diagnostic procedures, tools and standards used to diagnose a disability.
• Professional background, qualifications and experience of those undertaking the diagnosis and assessment.
• Parameters used to describe the diagnosed condition. This must include the type, causation, severity and stability over time, and prognosis of the condition.
A2 Cognitive and learning needs
• Learning difficulties, to include dyslexia, dyspraxia and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
• Autism-spectrum disorders, to include Asperger syndrome, pervasive developmental disorder not otherwise specified (PDD-NOS) and childhood disintegrative disorder.
• Inherited conditions, to include Down’s syndrome, Huntington’s disease, dementia, Alzheimer’s.
• Needs of older people, to include memory loss, slower cognitive speed, life-long learning.
A3 Physical and health needs
• Needs of older people, to include arthritis, diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
• Health needs, to include physical needs cystic fibrosis, sickle cell disorders, stroke a mental illnesses.
• Sensory disabilities, to include deafness and hearing impairment, visual impairment.
• Accidents, to include paraplegia, loss of limb.
• Infectious diseases that can lead to individuals having additional needs.
• Problems during pregnancy and birth that can lead to individuals having additional needs.
A4 Social and emotional needs
• Needs generated from family circumstances, to include specific needs of looked-after children, bereavement, school refuser (non-attendance) and bullying.
• Needs generated by being elderly, to include loss of loved ones, fear of dying, family far away, isolation, lack of money.
• Needs affected by the learning environment.

This is a resource package contains a 37 page booklet for students to write notes and summarise activities ahead of completing their first assignment. This package is for teachers delivering the new 2022 spec for BTEC Tech Award in Health and Social Care Component 2.
For teachers following my SoW, this is for week 36 after the completion of Component 1.
There is one presentations, one is 41 slides and covers HALF of the benefits to individuals of the skills attributes and values in health and social care practice.
There is also a 5 slide of health and social care key words and terms to describe the impact of appropriate professional behaviors to help students with Task 5.
Homework is set as a continuation of an activity started in the lesson and is the application of spec content from B1, B2, B3 and B4

BTEC Tech Award Health & Social Care Component 3 mock 60 mark exam paper which follows the Pearson format which is good practice for students.
There is a guidance paper for students which you could use as an activity and cut and paste into a walk through, if this is your teaching style.
The mark scheme is detailed and easy for students to see where the marks are.
An additional covers which part of the spec is tested in each question in the SAM’s format. You can map these across and refer to this when going through the answers.
