This package is for teachers delivering the new 2022 spec for BTEC Tech Award in Health and Social Care Component 2. For teachers following my SoW, this is for week 29 after the completion of Component 1. It has two presentations, one is 45 slides and covers culture and social barriers and ways to overcome those as per PSA Task 3, with applied examples. The second is 13 slides and covers Language Barriers. There is guidance and options for students note taking which will be a source of reference in the PSA. Students will be expected to know a range of potential barriers but the focus is on cultural, social and language in the spec below and be able to recognise which barrier(s)apply and the most suitable ways to overcome these. Throughout there is reference to different services from A2. Homework is set as the case studies they do not cover in the lesson so they have the full range from the spec. This covers what is needed for the life stage Early Adulthood (19-45 years-olds) If you are following my SoW 2024-2025 , this is Week 5, there is less in the content delivery so this week is an opportunity to start preparing students for their PSA Task 1. There are activities and worksheets to work on independently. All the spec content for Early Adulthood is included in one presentation with 39 slides which have animation so text is delivered in chunks. These cover the expected key characteristics in each of the PIES classifications. To start with there is a starter activity. B6 Major life events that affect development Predictable events: • these are events that are expected to happen at a particular time. While expected, they may still have an effect on a person’s health and wellbeing. This effect can be positive or negative, regardless of the event. Unpredictable events: • these are events that happen unexpectedly and can have serious physical and psychological effects on an individual. These effects can be positive or negative, regardless of the event. Many events can be either predictable or unpredictable depending on the life course of the individual. This package is for teachers delivering the new 2022 spec for BTEC Tech Award in Health and Social Care Component 2. For teachers following my SoW, this is for week 30 after the completion of Component 1. There is one presentations, one is 45 slides and covers both geographical barriers and intellectual barriers and ways to overcome both as per PSA Task 3, with applied examples. There is guidance and options for students note taking which will be a source of reference in the PSA. Students will be expected to know a range of potential barriers but the focus is on geographical location covered in the spec below and be able to recognise which barrier(s)apply and the most suitable ways to overcome these. In addition the second part of the presentation is focused on intellectual barriers and covers every point in the spec for overcoming these and more. Throughout there is reference to different services from A2. Homework is set as the case studies they do not cover in the lesson so they have the full range from the spec. Please read carefully - This package covers burns, pain and wound assessment and dressing which are not in the first year Core A or B spec. The aim is to give students a broad understanding, cover some 2nd year teaching and prepare them better for work experience placements. There is a printable NEWS2 chart in this package to explain the need to assess pain. If you would prefer to stick to the spec the resources are editable, delete what you feel is appropriate.
