A 15-slide PowerPoint presentation which starts with a Do Now activity covering German topics covered so far. It then reminds students about inversion (after “In meinem Zimmer…”) and then introduces 13 words for bedroom furniture (e.g. “ein Regal”, “ein Bett”, “einen Stuhl” etc.). There is a quick listening activity to put the furniture in order and then a reminder about using “kein” properly and another listening activity to write out the furniture words that students hear. There is then a “spot and correct the mistakes” activity and some translations into English and into German. It’s followed by a text for students to find out the some adjectives like “big”, “tidy”, “light” etc. (plus another listening activity to practise this) and it ends with by asking students to put together a written piece to describe a messy bedroom.

An information sheet about the AQA GCSE German Speaking exam - the Role Play part.
It explains the format of the exam, the mark scheme, some useful questions words, some general tips, information on forming questions, information on register (“Sie” vs. “du”), and information on stating and explaining your opinion.
Display posters for creating more interesting opinions and justifications in German using emojis. Starts with ways to state your opinion, then lists intensifiers, explains “weil”, “denn”, and “da”, and then gives three pages of emoji adjectives to use.
I recommend printing off on at least A3 size, in colour, and laminate them.
A PowerPoint presentation regarding the German language, its similarity to English, some cognates and loan words, techniques for working out new words and a classroom class talk speaking activity for students to have in their books and use through the year. You’ll need to adapt the worksheet and PowerPoint so that it reflects your school’s reward name (I talk about gaining a “Silver” and a “Gold”).

An 18-slide PowerPoint presentation which starts with a Do Now activity and then talks through how to make links between German words and English words, including cognates, logic, and visual clues. A 4-slide PowerPoint presentation which starts with a Do Now activity and then goes the instructions for carrying out the assessment as a writing activity.
Also included are the markschemes (slightly different depending on if you do it as a speaking or a writing activity) which will enable you to grade students up to grade 9.
There is also a slide to help you mark it so that you can write, e.g. “T4, T9” to feedback on students’ improvement targets.
Students can then work on these in the next lesson by using the PowerPoint presentation for lesson 15, which explains to students what they need to do to improve the work and re-write it.

A 13-slide PowerPoint presentation which starts with a Do Now activity covering German topics covered so far. It starts with a short “hook” video about “Sommerrodeln” and asks students to form their opinion on it. There is then a match-up activity for adventure sports, like mountain biking, white water rafting, canoing etc. There is then a short explanation of the word “man” and “Man kann…” is introduced. Students are asked to form sentences using “man kann”. The four seasons are then introduced and students are asked to put these into more “man kann” sentences. It ends with a creative piece of work, in which students are invited to make a brochure for an adventure centre to practise the “man kann” sentences with adventure sports, plus their opinions.
