A knowledge organiser (KO) for German GCSE. It is for theme 4.1 - Germany and Customs. It complements the OUP textbook. It includes key grammar (“Using quantities, weights, and containers”, “Using adjectives as nouns”, and “Using verbs as the second idea in sentences”), the aims of the theme, some “fancy phrases” for the topic, 20 key items of vocabulary (also in sentences for context), and four key verbs in five different tenses.

A 16-slide PowerPoint presentation which starts with a Do Now activity covering German topics covered so far. It then recaps the rooms of the house as a test, and students are reminded of sentences with a quick comprehension activity. There is then a lot of new verb infinitives (“essen”, “lesen”, “arbeiten” etc.) and a reminder about putting them in the “ich”-form. After that comes a reminder of the Dative Case for saying “in the attic”, “in the living room”, “in the kitchen” etc. before asking students to translate some first person sentences, plus a listening exercise to consolidate. There is then some information on irregular verbs, and the “ich”, “du”, “er/sie/es” and “wir”-forms of “essen”, “sehen”, “lesen”, and “schlafen”. There is a listening exercise to hear these in action, before a translation exercise to practise them. After that comes a gap-fill activity to put it together, and a writing exercise to put it all together. This is lesson 41 of many available for Year 7 (Y7) or first year German. Bundles available! A 15-slide PowerPoint presentation which starts with a Do Now activity covering German topics covered so far. It then reminds students about inversion (after “In meinem Zimmer…”) and then introduces 13 words for bedroom furniture (e.g. “ein Regal”, “ein Bett”, “einen Stuhl” etc.). There is a quick listening activity to put the furniture in order and then a reminder about using “kein” properly and another listening activity to write out the furniture words that students hear. There is then a “spot and correct the mistakes” activity and some translations into English and into German. It’s followed by a text for students to find out the some adjectives like “big”, “tidy”, “light” etc. (plus another listening activity to practise this) and it ends with by asking students to put together a written piece to describe a messy bedroom.
