Word searches are a simple and effective way of encouraging students to engage with the written word in French, refreshing and reinforcing language as they complete the grids. This set is aimed at beginner French students of all ages, focusing on the key verbs être and avoir in the present tense. They introduce students to the concept of verb conjugation from the very beginning of their learning, which enhances their French across all four skills. They provide an popular alternative to more traditional grammar exercises or drills. The set features 10 differentiated word searches, with an increasing level of challenge. There are 5 search grids with French prompts and French responses in the grid. Students also complete a list of corresponding conjugations in English for additional consolidation. These are followed by 5 search grids with English prompts and French responses in the grid. They also write out the corresponding French conjugations, as well as looking for them in the grid. Each grid is in landscape format, and has an accompanying answer key so that students can check their own responses. ITALIAN TELLING THE TIME REFERENCE GUIDE

PRIMARY ITALIAN KS3 ITALIAN TELLING TIME REFERENCE BOOK - EVERY ANALOGUE CLOCK TIME I like to give my students comprehensive vocab books and reference resources. They enable them to work more independently, both in class and at home. This Italian Telling the Time Reference Book has 14 pages, and features every analogue clock time in Italian. There’s a My Notes page too - I encourage students to make notes on their progress, and think about how they are progressing - we use this to inform and guide whole-group discussion about learning and progress in general, which is a really popular and effective activity too. *The product is non-editable in a zipped format. GERMAN FUTURE TENSE CONJUGATION PRACTICE

(0)
GCSE GERMAN KSS3 GERMAN KS4 GERMAN FUTURE TENSE CONJUGATION PRACTICE 25 high-frequency German verbs, 150 conjugation questions, 3 differentiated challenges, answer keys ideal for advanced KS3 German students who are beginning to work with compound sentences and longer texts, and generally developing their knowledge and understanding of conjugation and tense in German. My students really like this kind of grammar activity, as they like to work and learn independently, which is a successful way of varying teaching and learning methodologies - I’ve found it’s really important to avoid predominantly teacher-led learning in the languages classroom. I tend to introduce the future tense along with the conditional tense, as I’ve found this can help students consolidate the pattern of conjugation very quickly, and it also helps them understand the distinction between will and would, particularly the fine distinction between the notion of intent in both German and English. Though the workbook focuses solely on the correct conjugation of verbs, and does not look at word order in the context of full sentences, there are fixed conjugation patterns that students can learn, recognise and apply, ensuring that their spoken and written German is accurate, and that their understanding of German across the skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing is robust. The resource has the following structure: Two alphabetical verb reference lists: German-English and English-German. Three conjugation challenges, each with 50 individual conjugations: Conjugation Challenge 1: each verb conjugated in German across a range of pronouns, with students writing the corresponding English verb conjugation. Conjugation Challenge 2: gives the infinitive of each verb in German, specifying the target pronoun. Students write the corresponding verb conjugation in German. Conjugation Challenge 3: students write the corresponding German verb conjugation, and its infinitive, from an English prompt. Notes and Next Steps sheet, which encourages students to think about how their understanding of German conjugation works, what progress they have made, what their targets for improvement might realistically be, and what they might reasonably do in order to meet those targets. answer key Have a browse in my store for more German grammar activities, and a wide range of other German teaching and learning resources, with special offer bundles and lots of freebies too! GCSE GERMAN KS3 GERMAN KS4 GERMAN FUTURE TENSE REFLEXIVE VERBS CONJUGATION PRACTICE 25 high-frequency reflexive German verbs, including some which are not essentially reflexive, such as sich kaufen, so that students can practice the dative reflexive pronoun, 150 conjugation questions, 3 differentiated challenges, answer keys ideal for advanced KS3 German students who are beginning to work with compound sentences and longer texts, and generally developing their knowledge and understanding of conjugation and tense in German. I tend to introduce the future tense along with the conditional tense, as I’ve found this can help students consolidate the pattern of conjugation very quickly, and it also helps them understand the distinction between will and would, particularly the fine distinction between the notion of intent in both German and English. Students become very familiar and confident the more they work with conjugation, and these quick conjugations certainly help to embed that successfully. GERMAN PLUPERFECT TENSE CONJUGATION PRACTICE

(0)
GCSE GERMAN ALEVEL GERMAN KS5 GERMAN PLUPERFECT TENSE 25 high-frequency German verbs, 150 conjugation questions, 3 differentiated conjugation challenges, answer key & verbs lists, ideal for advanced KS4 German and KS5 Germanstudents who have a sound baseline understanding of conjugation and tense in German, are working regularly with the notion of past tense in German, and distinguishing between verbs that are conjugated with either haben or sein in the perfect and pluperfect tense. It’s actually really useful to introduce the pluperfect tense in German fairly closely with the perfect tense, as the patterns are identical, other than the auxiliary tense, and it allows students to compare and contrast the tenses, and to practice both fairly simultaneously - in my experience, students do not confuse or mix up the tenses when they’re learning and using them together. I find it useful to remind students of a number of things when focusing on or revising tense and verb conjugation. For example with the pluperfect tense, students need to have a good grasp of the relevant auxiliary in the imperfect tense, and to get used to ensuring that the past participle is situated at the end of the clause or sentence. Forming the past participle of a whole range of verb groups follows a certain pattern, which students are able to identify and predict the more they work with conjugation. It’s actually really useful to introduce the future perfect tense in German fairly closely with the conditional perfect tense, as the patterns are identical, other than the auxiliary tense, and it allows students to compare and contrast the tenses, and to practice both fairly simultaneously - in my experience, students do not confuse or mix up the tenses when they’re learning and using them together. GERMAN BREAKFAST WORD WALL

(0)
PRIMARY GERMAN KS3 GERMAN BEGINNER GERMAN BREAKFAST WORD WALL Deutsch für Kinder Das Frühstück Word Wall 18 scrumptious breakfast items. Displaying key vocabulary in the German classroom is a really simple and successful way of creating a German ambiance, showing***language in its real-world use***, and keeping language fresh in students’ minds, particularly in the introductory phase of that particular vocabulary set. There are 18 breakfast items in this word wall, though I may not actually have all the items in my learning plan. I tend to include additional language to help students develop language skills and awareness in general. There is implicit grammatical input, with a focus on the definite article in German, a range of masculine, feminine and neuter, singular and plural. We look at cognates and near-cognates, and talk about similarities and differences between the words in German and English. We discuss breakfast in general, what we like to eat, or we’d like to try. In this way, the word wall becomes a real learning tool, and not simply attractive classroom decor. The breakfast items are: bacon : yoghurt : cup of coffee : cereal : jam : pancakes : croissant : waffles porridge : orange juice : milk : boiled egg & boiled eggs (useful for looking at singular/plural differences) : fried egg : toast : bread rolls : syrup : tea There are two headers: Guten Appetit! and Das Frühstück. Students enjoy creating their own headers too, as well as adding to the number of breakfast items as they develop their German vocabulary. There are two cards per 8.5 x 11 (A4) page in landscape format, which ensures the words are big enough for students to be able to read from various locations in the classroom. There are two backgrounds to choose from - German flag or black wave. I always print my word walls on robust card stock and/or laminate, because they hang really well, and last in excellent condition for years, meaning I can keep recycling them, keeping prep and expense to a minimum. LATIN NUMBERS & ROMAN NUMERALS 0-100 FREEBIE #1

(0)
PRIMARY LATIN KS3 LATIN NUMBERS & ROMAN NUMERALS 0-100 I encourage my beginner Latin students to build up a comprehensive vocabulary bank that they can reference easily whenever they need it - we also use them for quick Latin vocabulary quizzes, spelling competitions and so on. I’ve put the numbers across four pages, because the size of the font is really important for all learners, but especially for beginner language learners, as they begin to familiarize themselves with words and spelling systems in a new language. I have also uploaded a number reference sheet I give my more experienced Latin learners - it’s in landscape format, with all the numbers on a single sheet, so the font size is smaller - students who’ve been learning Latin for a while are comfortable with quite a lot of text on a single page. Have a browse in my store for more Latin vocabulary lists, and a wide range of other Latin teaching and learning activities, with special offer bundles, resources boxes, and lots of freebies too! PRIMARY LATIN KS3 LATIN NUMBERS & ROMAN NUMERALS 0-100 I encourage my beginner Latin students to build up a comprehensive vocabulary bank that they can reference easily whenever they need it - we also use them for quick vocab quizzes, spelling competitions and so on. This particular sheet is for my more experienced Latin learners, who’ve been learning Latin for a while - all the numbers and numerals are on a single page in landscape format, so the font is fairly small, but they’re comfortable with quite a bit of text on a single page - beginner learners do need to have language very clearly accessible - I also have a version in my store that I give my absolute beginners - the numbers are across four pages in portrait format My students all have reference resource folders or files - these can have a range of formats - for instance, sticking into a large exercise book, or punching holes down the left-hand side, and adding to files (we also use twine or thick string!). There are three backgrounds to choose from - color, which I tend to use for vocab display, black wave - the backgrounds do help to make vocab lists a little more visually appealing for students who have a lot of vocab to learn, particularly at the beginning of their language studies, or plain - which definitely saves on ink! PRIMARY LATIN KS3 LATIN NUMBERS ROMAN NUMERALS DISPLAY WORD WALL These word wall cards are great for creating an instant introduction to Latin numbers and Roman Numerals 1-20. I really like to have key vocabulary displayed in a particular area - I find it gives the learning environment a real language ‘feel’ and ‘look’, keeping the language alive every day - and of course the word wall cards are useful during the introduction phase, and we also use them for developing language skills and awareness in general. We like to do number guessing and calculation games at regular intervals too. My younger learners enjoy taking their mini-whiteboards or notepads, and doing Latin vocabulary or calculation race games at the word wall. There are two cards per 8.5 x 11 (A4) page in landscape format - the words are definitely big enough for children to be able to read from various location in the classroom. SPANISH COLOURS FLASHCARDS FREEBIE #2

(2)
PRIMARY SPANISH KS2 SPANISH KS3 SPANISH SPANISH COLOURS FLASHCARDS POSTERS Los colores en español 8 posters / flashcards These 4***adjectival agreement*** posters, with a focus on the colour verde, make an ideal grammar and speaking prompt in the Spanish classroom - for example, I encourage students to look carefully at the differences between el monstruo verde and los monstruos verdes. Giving learners the opportunity to look very closely at language, to identify similarities and differences with their first language, as well as rules and patterns in the target language, is a really key language teaching and learning strategy. I use high-frequency beginner Spanish vocabulary to do this. As students build their vocabulary, with increasing understanding of gender and gender agreement, they are able to apply those rules and patterns to new language. I use questions such as Verdadero o falso? El monstruo verdes? , really emphasizing pronunciation, so that they can hear the difference in agreement. I often write the questions on the whiteboard too, as it’s equally important that they are able to***recognise the differences in the written words*** too, and to link sound with spelling . Use them as flashcards to introduce and practice language too - it’s a traditional and successful low-tech teaching method, which gives students a welcome break from the whiteboard - varying teaching methodologies in the language learning classroom is always a good idea, and I also encourage my students to take the role of the teacher too, which they find really motivating. It doesn’t matter if this particular language doesn’t feature in your immediate or even longer-term learning plan: the flashcards / posters provide learners with daily opportunities to engage with the written word in Spanish, to develop their recognition and recall of individual words, to identify cognates and near-cognates, and to begin to link spelling with sound in Spanish. There are two backgrounds to choose from - either the Spanish flag, or black wave. Laminate the flashcards / posters if possible - they’ll hang really nicely, stay in good shape, and you’ll be able to use them for many years to come! Have a browse in my store for more Spanish flashcards / posters, and a wide range of other teaching and learning resources, with special offer bundles, resource boxes, and lots of freebies too! GERMAN TELLING THE TIME O'CLOCK LIST FREEBIE

(4)
PRIMARY GERMAN KS3 GERMAN BEGINNER GERMAN TELLING THE TIME ANALOGUE O’CLOCK LIST WITH MATCHING CLOCK FACES I like to give visual vocabulary lists to my young beginner learners of German, as they can generally more easily assimilate new language and vocabulary when they are able to***link it in their memory with a visual image***, and it’s particularly important to match a clock time with the corresponding clock face when learning how to tell the time. Children glue the lists into their German vocabulary books, or file them in their German vocabulary folders with other vocabulary lists, which gives them an accessible and useful German vocabulary reference bank for both class and home learning. For young and / or beginner German learners, I focus initially on a single time set, and this list shows o’clock on a single page. This is because in my experience students benefit from a very clear outline of new language and vocabulary, avoiding lots of text on a single page - even my older students who are completely new to German prefer this. When I’m sure that students are confident with o’clock, I then move on to additional time sets. There are two backgrounds to choose from - German flag, which I use for German vocabulary display, or plain. FRENCH CHRISTMAS VOCABULARY LIST FREEBIE

(6)
PRIMARY FRENCH KS3 FRENCH YEAR 7 FRENCH CHRISTMAS WORDS & PICTURES A great French Christmas picture & vocabulary reference resource for younger learners of French. It works well when students keep them carefully in learning files or folders for current and future reference. They also work well printed double-sided and laminated for small-group work in class. There are 20 common French Christmas words with pictures that I’ve found ideal for children learning French. I’ve used a blend of masculine and feminine nouns, definite article and indefinite article and there are some plurals too. I use this to stimulate discussion about articles, the concept of gender in French (which is often quite contrary to some learners’ first language, such as English), and forming the plural in French. It’s also great for promoting discussion about Christmas traditions and practices in France and French regions, as well as other French-speaking countries, comparing them to other Christmas customs with which students are familiar. Over time, I encourage students to add to the list - by the end of their French learning programme, they’ll have a comprehensive French Christmas vocabulary bank. There are two backgrounds to choose from - Christmas colours (which I tend to use as part of a French Christmas display), and blackline snow. Have a browse in my store for more French Christmas resources, and a wide range of other French teaching and learning materials, with special offer bundles, French resource boxes, and lots of freebies. LATIN VERBS LIST FREEBIE #1

(2)
GCSE LATIN KS4 LATIN KS3 LATIN VERBS I give my language learners of all grades and learning phases a whole series of vocabulary reference lists, that build up into a really comprehensive reference bank over the course of their Latin language learning programme. They’re really popular with my students, as they know they can just go to their reference file or folder, and find what they need. They tell me that they feel far more confident about their Latin when they have a good grasp of core vocabulary. They’re great for quick vocabulary quizzes too - simply shout out either a Latin or an English verb, and students respond with the corresponding verb. There are two alphabetical lists - one Latin-English, and one English-Latin, as I’ve found that language learners prefer to have both as a reference resource. There are two backgrounds to choose from - colour block (which I tend to use as part of a grammar display), and black wave - students tell me that this makes vocabulary lists more visually appealing, which is really useful when they’ve got a lot of vocabulary to work through and learn, and can be a real motivator for learning. If my group is small, I provide students with a set of double-sided and laminated reference resources. My students all have a reference file or folder, again from the beginning of their learning, and part of helping them develop independence in, and responsibility for, their learning, is to give them opportunity to keep their learning resources in good order, and easily accessible. This list is a collection of 25 high-frequency Latin verbs that I work with in the beginning to intermediate stages of Latin learning programmes. They include regular and irregular verbs, with some modal verbs. The verbs are all in the infinitive form - it’s an important step in learning is to ensure that students quickly develop a useful vocabulary bank, are able to recognize high-frequency Latin verbs, and are confident with the meaning of those verbs in English - at that point we can move swiftly on to looking at conjugation and using the verbs in a communicative and practical context. We also use our reference lists to help students audit their developing ***Latin ***verb vocabulary. GCSE FRENCH CONJUGATION PRACTICE SAMPLER I’ve created a lot of quick conjugation workbooks for my students and they’re really popular and effective. They’re a great way of practising, reinforcing and revising how to conjugate all the various verb groups and tenses in French. I use them in a range of learning contexts such as independent work either in class time or at home, holiday refresher work, or individual activities for cover lessons. Students really benefit from several opportunities to work through the workbook, once or twice a term across a whole school year is a great way of both mapping progress and developing overall understanding and competence. The workbooks focus on specific sets of 25 high-frequency verbs in a range of tenses. They include modals, regular, irregular & mixed and reflexive verbs. Each workbook is structured as follows: Two alphabetical verb reference lists: French : English and English : French Three conjugation challenges, each with 50 individual conjugations: Conjugation Challenge 1: each verb conjugated across a range of pronouns, with students writing the corresponding English verb conjugation. Conjugation Challenge 2: gives the infinitive of each verb in French, specifying the target pronoun. Students write the corresponding verb conjugation. Conjugation Challenge 3: students write the corresponding French verb conjugation, and its infinitive, from an English prompt. Notes and Next Steps sheet, which encourages students to think about how their understanding of French conjugation works, what progress they have made, what their targets for improvement might realistically be, and what they might reasonably do in order to meet those targets. 6-page answer key booklet In this sampler: high-frequency verbs list: French-English -IR & -OIR verbs list: English-French regular -ER verbs present tense conjugation: Challenge 1 with answer key regular & irregular -RE verbs perfect tense conjugation: Challenge 2 with answer key regular & irregular -IR & -OIR verbs: imperfect tense conjugation: Challenge 3 with answer key regular & irregular high-frequency verbs simple future tense conjugation: Challenge 1 with answer key regular -ER verbs conditional tense conjugation: Challenge 2 with answer key regular & irregular -RE verbs future perfect tense conjugation: Challenge 3 with answer key Files are non-editable in a zipped format.
