SPANISH TELLING TIME REFERENCE GUIDE

SPANISH FOR CHILDREN TELLING TIME ELEMENTARY SPANISH TELLING TIME BEGINNER SPANISH TELLING TIME SPANISH DECIR LA HORA EVERY ANALOG CLOCK TIME WITH MATCHING CLOCK FACES The product is non-editable in a zipped format. It is copyright, all rights reserved. It may not be copied, rewritten, amended, shared or distributed outside your own classroom in any way. The license for purchase is a single-user license only. Please read the Terms of Use carefully. Ideal for young and beginner Spanish learners. I like to give my language learners comprehensive core vocabulary books and reference resources. They enable them to work more independently, both in class and at home. This Spanish Telling Time Reference Book has 14 pages, and features every analog clock time in Spanish. There’s a My Notes page too - I encourage students to make notes on their progress, and think about how they are progressing. We also use this to inform and guide whole-group discussion about learning and progress in general, which is a really popular and effective activity too. I like to give visual vocabulary guides to my young beginner language learners, as they can generally more easily assimilate new language and vocabulary when they are able to link it in their memory with a visual image. It’s particularly important to match a clock time with the corresponding clock face when learning how to tell time. Students file the guides in their Spanish vocabulary folders with other vocabulary guides, which gives them an accessible and useful Spanish vocabulary reference bank for both class and home learning. For young and / or beginner Spanish learners, I focus initially on a single time set, because in my experience students benefit from a very clear outline of new language and vocabulary, avoiding lots of text on a single page - even my older students who are completely new to Spanish prefer this. When I’m sure that students are confident with o’clock, I then move on to additional time sets. Have a browse in my store for more Spanish resources and freebies. ¡MUCHAS GRACIAS Y BUEN APRENDIZAJE!

Ten differentiated word searches, focusing on 25 fruits in Spanish, with each consecutive grid increasing in challenge. The fruits include masculine, feminine, singular and plural, with a blend of definite and indefinite articles - this really helps students think a little more laterally about language, and their new vocab - they may learn la manzana, and it’s useful to give students opportunity to think about grammatical concepts, and how la becomes una for example. There are high-frequency fruits, such as apple or pear, and also fruits which may be new to some learners, such as redcurrant or starfruit. There are a range of phonemes and sounds too, such as the letter j (uvas rojas), which is a sound particular to Spanish, and the letter ñ (piña), as the tilde + n plays a very important role in Spanish pronunciation. There are 5 Spanish to Spanish grids, labelled with a lemon, where learners are prompted with the Spanish words, and look for them in Spanish in the grid. For additional consolidation, each grid also features an English word list that they have to complete, really putting their knowledge to the test! There are also 5 English to Spanish grids, labelled with a raspberry, where the prompt words are given in English, and learners have to find the Spanish equivalent in the grid. For additional consolidation and practice in writing/spelling in Spanish, they also complete the Spanish word list on each page. The fruits included are: green apples : red apple : bananas : cherries : dates : fig : green grapes red grapes : kiwi : lemon : mango : nectarine : olives : oranges : papaya peach : pear : pineapple : pumpkin : raspberry : redcurrants : rhubarb : starfruit : strawberries : watermelon Try this Spanish fruits word search freebie - you’ll be able to see whether the word searches will work well with your learners: SPANISH FRUITS WORD SEARCH WITH ANSWER KEY : FREEBIE https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/spanish-fruits-word-search-freebie-12486094 ¡MUCHAS GRACIAS Y BUEN PROVECHO!

The license for purchase is a single-user license only. It is free to download, but Terms of Use still apply. My students have always found these a really useful learning activity. With the structured speaking prompts, they are able to develop confidence in their speaking, working independently in pairs or small groups. At the same time, they are building their vocabulary and enhancing their understanding and knowledge of German grammar too. There are 15 questions with 15 suggested responses. As students become more confident and competent, they begin to rely less on the prompt cards, and answer questions in their own way - and even ask them differently too, if their talk partner is using the answer card as the main prompt. The questions in this freebie are aimed at advanced beginner German to intermediate German students, though my more advanced students enjoy ‘going back to the start’ too, particularly near exam time. There’s a reference sheet, with all the questions and answers written out in full - I always provide a reference resource, and my students like to keep them in their learning folders for longer-term reference. When they create their own questions and answers for each other on the question and answer card template, they also find them really useful as a form of writing frame. I always laminate my language learning cards, even though the prep is a bit time-consuming - they’re far sturdier and easier to use, and will definitely last for years! Have a browse in my store for more German speaking practice activities, with a wide range of other German language teaching and learning materials, with lots of freebies. It may not be copied, rewritten, shared or distributed outside your classroom in any way. It is free to download, but Terms of Use still apply - please read them carefully. English Numbers 0-31 I have, Who has? This is a whole-group lively & communicative language learning game, perfect for practicing, reinforcing & refreshing how to count from 0 - 31 in English. The game has a***multi-skill focus: listening, speaking & reading***, with an important bonus focus on social interaction and participation. It’s perfect for pronunciation practice too. The aim of the game is to create an English number chain as quickly as possible, starting with the first card zero, and ending with the final card, thirty-one. The game works just as well if the number sequence is placed on the floor, a longish table, or other flat surface. I created the game for my young beginner learners, but I’ve also played the game with my adult learners, who really enjoy it too - the monster theme is popular with everyone! The design is four cards per page, which allows for a large font - this is really important for beginner language learners who are starting to familiarize themselves with the written word. Try to print in color if you can - it adds to the visual appeal of the game, which is a real motivator for learning. Download, print out, laminate, cut out & shuffle the cards. I’d definitely recommend you laminate the cards, despite the extra prep and expense. They’re far more learner-friendly, and they will last for absolutely years. Distribute the cards, one or two per student, depending on how many students you have in your group. I often play too - students really do enjoy it when I join in, and they seem to work that little bit harder on their concentration and pronunciation. Students walk around the room, talking to each other in their best English accent, sharing the information on their cards, until they have arranged the numbers in the correct order. The game works best played against a timer, regularly over a longer-term series of lessons - can students beat beat their own time record? I always do some high-speed counting warm-up activities, forwards & backwards, to get everyone ready to play! Have a browse in my store for more English resources, including English dollar deals, special offer bundles, and freebies. THANKS AND ENJOY THE GAME!

There are 99 common German verbs in the infinitive form, along with the corresponding English verbs. Students can work happily challenging themselves and each other to create a perfect domino bilingual verb sequence, on the classroom floor, or on a long(ish) table, by matching the German and English verbs. The game has a bonus multi-focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, and reading, and also helps students identify cognates and words that may look similar to English, but mean something different. There are three games, each with a different level of challenge: Challenge One features the verbs in alphabetical order, German to English Challenge Two features the verbs in random order, also German to English Challenge Three again features the verbs in random order, but this time from English to German, which works a little different in terms of vocab recall There’s a full alphabetical German-English verb list, which students find really useful as they begin to build and embed their verb vocabulary - we find it useful to have a quick look through the list prior to playing for the first time, and it’s also really good for some additional whole-group pronunciation practice. Task cards are an ideal language learning activity. Students can develop, embed, reinforce and refresh their knowledge of fruits in German in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher. The questions have a bonus multi-skill focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading and spelling. They’re great for helping students familiarize themselves with, and develop competence in, speaking, reading, writing and spelling longer words and more complex sentences in German. Sentence structure and word order may differ from students’ first and/or home language, so it’s important to provide them with opportunities to engage with language that moves beyond single-unit vocabulary as soon as possible. It also gives them chance to apply language in a practical, real-world context, which in turn helps embed both vocab and grammatical concepts into longer-term memory. The cards are useful not only when you’re focusing on the target vocab, but also to work on German language skills in general, such as cases, adjectival endings, grammatical structures such as um… zu + infinitive and so on. The goal is not simply to learn the target vocabulary in German, but also to enjoy working with German, and to feel confident about doing so. The questions are all in German, and range in complexity and challenge. There is alphabetical German-English and English-German fruits list with masculine and feminine fruits, definite and indefinite article, and singular and plural - this really helps students familiarize themselves with grammatical concepts without explicit instruction. There are some translation questions too - both from German to English and English to German, which is a great introduction to translation for beginner German learners. PRIMARY FRENCH IMMERSION BEGINNER FRENCH NUMBERS 0-31 Ten differentiated word searches with answer keys Files are non-editable in a zipped format. The product is copyright, all rights reserved. It may not be copied, rewritten, amended, shared or distributed outside your own classroom in any way. The license for purchase is a single-user license only. Please read the Terms of Use. Word searches are a fabulous way of encouraging learners to engage with the written word, practicing and reinforcing language as they complete the grids. This set features ten differentiated word searches, focusing on Numbers 0-31 in French, with each consecutive grid increasing in challenge. The searches offer a really useful learning opportunity - enabling learners to engage with the target vocabulary, but also aligning with cross-curricular learning - working on reading, writing, spelling, numeracy and French language skills in general. Learners are able to identify which direction words are located in within the grid by referring to the arrow key. As they move through the grids, their language skills are challenged in a range of ways - from straightforward vocabulary searching, to gap-fill, scrambled letters and more complex questions, which feature mathematical language in French. Hyphens are important in French numbers, and the grids feature these quite clearly, in order to ensure that learners can practice this aspect of language. There is an answer grid for each word search, so that learners can check their answers - or use for a little extra help if they need it. For me, answer keys are essential, as they not only provide learners with another opportunity to engage with language, but they also help them develop more independence in their learning. They’re also a great teacher time-saver - a real bonus! There is a single word search per page, portrait format. I like to ensure that text is accessible to all learners - and at this stage of their learning, it’s absolutely essential that language looks accessible and manageable. There are two formats to choose from - the search grids and answer keys as separate worksheets, and also a file with both grids and answer keys together, so that you can print each grid and key double-sided, according to which suits your classroom needs better. Have a browse in my store for more French word searches, and a wide range of other French teaching and learning materials, with French dollar deals, special offer bundles and lots of freebies. Parole Intrecciate are a fabulous way of encouraging learners to engage with the written word in Italian, refreshing and reinforcing language as they complete the grids. This set features 10 differentiated word searches, with each consecutive grid increasing in challenge. There are 5 Italian to Italian grids, where learners are prompted with Italian words, and look for them in Italian in the grid. For additional consolidation, each grid also features an English word list that they have to complete, really putting their knowledge to the test! There are also 5 English to Italian grids, where the prompt words are given in English, and learners have to find the Italian equivalent in the grid. For additional consolidation and practice in writing and spelling in Italian, they also complete the Italian word list on each page. Students can tell in which direction the words are written by looking at the arrow key on each grid. Answer keys also provide students with an additional opportunity to engage with language, and they’re a great teacher time-saver too, which is always a good thing! The word searches are in landscape format, as I’ve found this to be the best format for beginner learners of Italian. This kind of activity is really versatile too, I use them as starters, refreshers, plenaries or fun-time fillers at any time during the school year, as well as when I’m introducing days of the week in Italian. FSL FLE PRIMARY FRENCH IMMERSION FRENCH FOR CHILDREN FRENCH NUMBERS 0-10: TEN DIFFERENTIATED WORD SEARCHES Files are non-editable in a zipped format; the product is copyright, all rights reserved. It may not be copied, rewritten, amended, shared or distributed outside your own classroom in any way. The license for purchase is a single-user license only - please read the Terms of Use carefully. Ideal for Primary French Immersion and beginner French students of all ages and stages, providing them with a great opportunity to engage with the written word in French, at the same time developing essential beginner French vocabulary. They are easily differentiated too: the grids have an increasing level of challenge, to ensure that all students can feel confident about their learning - and lots of chances to keep challenging themselves. I’ve indicated the direction the words are located in the grid with arrows. There are 5 French to French grids, with an additional number vocabulary list to complete for extra spelling practice. I always create English to French grids too - that’s an effective way of consolidating vocabulary, and there’s a vocabulary list to complete too. All the grids have a corresponding answer key, which are essential in order to maximise the learning potential of the activity. They facilitate learner independence, also giving them an additional opportunity to engage with the target language - they also genuinely enjoy assessing their own, and each others’ work. This set is in landscape format, as in my experience young beginner French students, as well as older beginner French students, really benefit from a larger font, and having the language presented in the common direction of reading in both English and French, left to right. The word searches are really versatile, and I use them in lots of different contexts, such as starter and refresher activities, fun-time fillers, sub lessons, or free-choice activity at any time during the school year. Try this French fruits word searches freebie - they’re in the same format as this set, so you’ll be able to see whether this kind of activity would work well for your learners: FRENCH FRUITS WORD SEARCHES FREEBIE https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/fsl-french-fruits-word-search-freebie-12510002 Have a browse in my store for more French word searches, and a wide range of other French teaching and learning materials, with French dollar deals, special offer bundles, and lots of freebies.
