This is one of 11 lessons that combine to make a full scheme of work. The lessons are designed for teaching when the pupils first join secondary school and they are based on their early experiences of school. I have uploaded all lessons with the same title above and each has a PP (if I made it) and the resources with it. In the odd case, it will just be a lesson plan. Lesson 1 has a scheme overview attached for all lessons. You will want to adapt for your own school.

English Functional Skills Lesson 3 Level 1 and 2
These are lessons that are aimed at NC level 5 /6 / GCSE D/C learners who are trying to get Level 1 / 2 in Functional Skills English. I will uploaded as many lessons as I can find. I certainly have the first 4 of this unti that encorporates a little Maths but predominantly English. These lessons look at the notion of family and marriage and whether or not marriage is still relevant.
This is a full powerpoint lessons, ready to teach but you will want to adapt it / update it for your own context. This lesson covers the existance of Nessy and covers analysis of texts.

The lessons structure reading the book from before reading to after and each of the early lessons covers different sectionhs of the book. In this lesson, the class watches some clips from the documentary that represents people from Manchester and then they debate the questions that follow. A good little filler lesson.
This is another one of the Roger Hurn lessons. Based on the story of Hook, which has also been uploaded by Roger himself. It's a reading lesson that works on skills of prediction.
These are a mini scheme of lessons that are designed to get low ability secondary pupils to engage with the basics by setting up their own Game show. Each week the pupils become more competent at each area and they design their own rounds in a quiz. In the last lesson, the pupils host the quiz with other pupils of the same age. Great for raising self esteem as well. As, when they host, they are great!
This is the start of a reading scheme for a top ability year 9 set who I started Lord Of The Flies with. It's incomplete as I was pulled off the class and put on year 11 intervention but it&'s a good starting point for anyone that would like to read it for enjoyment with a class.
This lesson is designed to help pupils understand how persuasive techniques can help them throughout their time in school / life.\nThere are a series of ways for them to learn the techniques with active and kagan learning strategies. The lesson was designed to span a full morning - so may ned to be chunked into 2 or 3 smaller sizes for use.
These are lessons from a scheme that I uploaded a couple of years ago but they have been updated to include more Kagan techniques and independent learning strategies. A scheme that pupils really enjoy too.
Rime Of the Ancient Mariner full PP lesson
This is one of nine lessons that form the analysis of the Rime Of The Ancient Mariner. The lessons are aimed at Key Stage 3 and have a variety of tasks in them to help support pupils in accessing the poem. They culminate in a reading assessment that is uploaded as lesson 9 and can be App'd.
This is a full lesson PP with resources that is ready to teach. it is one of a series that I have uploaded so can be taught in sequence or you can teach each as a standalone lesson as a all have learning points int heir own right. This particular lesson is about Marley's ghost.
This is one of many resources, full lesson powerpoints and quizes that I have uploaded on the short story 'Through The Tunnel'. The lessons aim to encouage pupils to read the story, evaluate the ending and then write an alternative ending. Great for practising narritive and imaginative writing skills. I use it with mixed abiility year 9 pupils and APP it for a level. All resources are uploaded with the same heading for ease of search if you'd like to use them together. This is a full lesson about the ending.
