Planning a new AQA GCSE answer on a Christmas Carol.

1-2 hr masterclass to go over essentials around regional variation for Section A of paper 7702. Includes revision of theory (A02) and A01 terminology. Students then have a go at answering the sample questions. Mark schemes on AQA website.

Paper 2: Writers’ viewpoints and perspectives Looks at planning answers for Paper 2. The students look at the general ideas behind how to answer each question. This can then lead on to them writing full answers. My class get easily overwhelmed and I found that this broke things down for them. The extract is taken from somebody else and not my own, however I created the activity. Section B revision sheet helps students to quickly brainstorm ideas and reminds them of the mark scheme.

A collection of 4 papers and grid sheet for students to find techniques. I then asked students to select two and compare. Part of a sample answer and sheet with sentence openers is also attached,

2 hour session looking at borrowing and producing a Q3 and 4 answer.

PP will last up to 2 weeks depending on class ability and how long you want to spend on developing writing and peer assessing. The skills numbers match up to Doddle skills however these could easily be changed as the skills are very universal. Focus on improving vocabulary and peer/ self assessment. Images are emotive focusing on 9/11, war and Chernobyl.

Students learn about Chernobyl with the aim of completing a piece of creative writing. There is a link to a useful clip and self assessment grid included.

Used as the first two lessons with Y13. Contains an intro to the course with quick quiz. Leads the students to consider existing knowledge of language and CLA. Moves onto a transcript and a straightforward analytical task introducing students on how their answers should be structured, followed by a peer assessment activity. Contains information on CDS satisfying A01 and A02. Includes further reading.

An introduction to phonology looking at A01 terminology types of error, IPA and relating ideas back to theory.

An introduction to Nativism and Chomsky. Includes A01 and A02 information- Wug Test, Poverty of stimulus, inborn faculty. Transcript activity.

An introduction to lexical and semantic development. Looks at holophrases, Nelson, Rescorla, Aitchison. Various activities along the way to check understanding including looking at a small transcript.

Students were shown the video clip of this scene on You Tube and then asked to give their ideas to the questions listed. WIth a LA these questions helped removed the fear of looking at Shakesperian English.

Macbeth revision quiz with three rounds including vocabulary, quotation catchphrase and the plot. Also, a literacy task looking at exam skills needed for the literature exam- used as a starter,

Macbeth Act 5 walk through with LA. Between the slides we read and annotated. This was used to walk through Act 5 quickly in preparation for a formative assessment. Includes work on the tragic hero.

A range of lessons on Act 3 of Macbeth. Looks at scenes 1,2 and 4. Includes activities considering imagery as well as opportunities for extended writing. Used with LA-MA KS4.
