This bundle meets all specification points needed to teach Topic 22 “Hydrocarbons”, Topic 23 “Alcohols and Carboxylic Acids” and Topic 24 “Polymers” from the Edexcel GCSE 9-1 Separate Science Chemistry course. These topics are for Triple Science classes only, they are not needed for Combined Science students. The bundle includes seven full lesson PowerPoints and associated resources, plus my overview and equipment lists for all Year 10 and Year 11 Combined & Triple Science Having delivered this to three classes already, my suggested teaching order is: Alkenes and Homologous Series (may take two lessons); Addition Polymerisation; Polymer Properties, Uses and Problems; Alcohols and Ethanol Production; Combustion of Alcohols Core Practical; Carboxylic Acids; Condensation Polymerisation. This PowerPoint will allow you to teach students the GCSE 9-1 Chemistry content on Making Salts by Acid-Alkali titration. Note This does not cover the Triple-only content on titration calculations or performing a titration as part of a Core Practical; that is covered in a separate lesson for the Quantitative Analysis topic. This lesson is simply about using titration to make salts from acids and solubles bases, in contrast to the methods used for making salts from acids and insoluble bases. The resources are easy to follow for teachers, readily accessible for students and are appropriate for Combined and Triple Science classes, Foundation and Higher tiers. Other GCSE lessons are available from my shop. They can be purchased individually or, alongside this lesson, as part of a whole-topic bundle.

This bundle meets all specification points needed to teach Topics 14 “Rates of Reaction” (topic 18 for Separate Science) and 15 “Energy Changes in Reactions” (topic 19 for Separate Science) from the Edexcel GCSE 9-1 Combined Science course. The bundle includes five full lesson PowerPoints and associated resources plus my overview and equipment lists for all Year 10 and Year 11 Combined & Triple Science. I am currently working on a PowerPoint for the Core Practical, though equipment lists for this are provided in the overview document and all background learning is covered in the lesson on “Rates of Reaction Graphs”. These PowerPoints will allow you to teach students how to calculate reacting masses (the mass of product made by a given mass of reactant and vice versa). Two PowerPoints are provided: Higher-tier lesson The PowerPoint (plus worksheet with exam-style practice questions) will allow you to teach Higher-tier only content on stoichiometry and then use this alongside numbers of moles to calculate reacting masses. Foundation-tier lesson Foundation students need to learn how calculate reacting masses but they do not need to learn how to calculate numbers of moles. The PowerPoint aimed at Foundation students revisits Relative Formula Mass and shows how to use this to approach Reacting Masses in a different way. It can also be used as backup for Higher students who struggle with Moles. The resources are easy to follow for teachers, readily accessible for students and are appropriate for Combined and Triple Science classes!
