Power point slides I currently use to deliver fully the unit “Transport in mammals” for AS Biology. The slides follow Cambridge syllabus (9700) but they are easily adaptable to others. The topic is divided in: Intro: starter activity Transport system in animals: outlines the need for a transport system The mammalian circulatory system: describes the main features of the circulatory system Blood vessels: function and wall structures of arteries, veins and capillaries. With a summary table. Tissue fluid: composition and formation. It includes past paper questions and answers Blood: components and function. It includes Hb, dissociation curve, Bohr shift and carbon dioxide transport. The heart: external and internal structure. This resource is designed to enhance Biology students skills in simple and serial dilutions. Mastering dilution techniques is fundamental for paper 3, practical exam for CIE and these slides provide several examples for students to practice the most common ones. They also gain hands-on experience through these slides as I provide them with the material needed to prepare the dilutions after working out the numbers. I use this presentation in combination with “Practical skills booklet” so that they can also practice past paper questions and other required skills such as graphs and planning investigations. Worksheets included with no answers. I hope you find it helpful.

Everything you need to deliver a unit of nutrition for Year 8. Easily adaptable and suitable for Year 7 and 9, and for a distance learning approach. The topic is divided in 8 parts: Nutrients: lesson + mini plenary based on 5 questions. Balanced diet: small discussion + lesson on nutritional deficiencies + plenary based on short research project. Digestion and absorption: lesson + mini plenary based on an exit ticket The human digestive system: labelling activity + mini plenary Teeth: labelling activity + structure of a tooth + dental hygiene Enzymes: lesson + plenary based on activities with differentiation. End of unit questions: 3 activities Revision: 35 minutes of revision activities + slides to check the proper answers.
