**This lesson provides students with a great selection of activities to help them understand and explain the main causes of the English Civil War in 1642. **
-Students are introduced to the idea of a Civil War and will discuss the role of a parliament in the 1600s.
-They will then read through a variety of different reasons why King Charles I and parliament argued in the years before 1642 and organise these reasons into economic, religious or political factors.
Finally, students will have an opportunity to fully explains the causes of the English Civil War in a piece of extended historical writing before completing a crossword which covers all the main terms from the lesson.

Students are guided through the key events of Oliver Cromwell’s rule as Lord Protector, his death and the Restoration of King Charles II.

Recap: A task where students are asked to look at a timeline of Cold War events so far and discuss which events will have caused the most amount of tension between the USA and the Soviet Union.
Task 1: Short term and long term consequences table.
Task 2: A narrative account storyboard which can easily be used alongside the fact sheet.
Task 3: Students organise the events into either causes, events or consequences (see image). This will help students identify a consequence for the exam question.

This is a single sheet revision resource, that when enlarged to A3, will provide your students with an overall view of every topic they need to revise for the main part of Crime and Punishment in a clearly organised format. I have used this with my lower ability students who like the idea that they can begin their revision using this sheet as their starting point.
