In Vivo and In Vitro (PCR) Cloning A-level Biology Summary Worksheets

(1)
Three worksheets covering part of Section 8 of the AQA A-level Biology specification: Producing DNA fragments (reverse transcriptase, restriction endonucleases & gene machines). In vivo cloning (summary of isolation - insertion - transformation - identification - culturing). Please note that a DETAILED EXPLANATION OF SPECIFIC MARKER GENES is NOT INCLUDED in this resource. In vitro cloning / PCR (Where relevant, a scaffolded gap-fill style version and a blank version is included). Full answer sheets are included, which could alternatively be used as handouts/revision sheets. My students love completing these visually appealing worksheets, which break topics down into manageable chunks. Useful as a revision exercise or as a quick assessment. All worksheets are black and white to allow students to add colour to the diagrams, a process which is thought to aid the formation of visual memories. Similar worksheets available on: Cell structure Immune response Carbon dioxide transport Tissue fluid formation Protein synthesis Photosynthesis Respiration Nutrient Cycles Energy transfers Protein synthesis Epigenetics Inheritance Control of blood glucose concentration The kidney Receptors Nerve Impulses

Nerve Impulses Summary Worksheets A-level Biology

(0)
Nerve Impulses (AQA Section 6) summary worksheets for A-level Biology. 3 worksheets: The action potential Refractory period + propagation of a nerve impulse along a non-myelinated neurone. Factors which affect speed of conduction (temperature, axon diameter, myelination). Since introducing these visual summary worksheets, I have seen improvements across all abilities. Download includes differentiated versions for the second two worksheets (one scaffolded ‘fill in the blank’ style worksheet, and one with blank answer spaces). Full answer sheets are included, which could also be used as a handout. The action potential worksheet is available as a fully completed version, to be used as a revision sheet or a version with the just the diagram and graph, for students to add their own text to. This leaves teachers free to explain each section of the graph as they prefer (i.e. some teachers prefer to include the term ‘voltage-gated’ ion channels, some don’t). Encourage students to add colour to the worksheets to aid formation of visual memories. Similar worksheets available for: Cell structure Protein Synthesis Tissue fluid CO2 transport Immune response Respiration Photosynthesis Inheritance Control of blood glucose concentration The Kidney Energy transfers Nutrient cycles Receptors Epigenetics In vivo and in vitro cloning
GCSE AQA Biology Triple Required Practical Revision Sheets

GCSE AQA Biology Triple Required Practical Revision Sheets

2 Resources
Revision notes/sheets covering all the AQA GCSE Biology required practicals (for triple science). So many students don’t allocate specific revision time to the required practicals. I designed these sheets for my own students to encourage specific revision of the practicals and have seen a great improvement in practical knowledge and the ability to answer practical-based questions. Each sheet includes an example method and most importantly, exam-style questions and model answers. The model answers for the exam-style questions have been written based on previous mark schemes, but I cannot guarantee that future mark schemes will be exactly the same. The model answers are for guidance only. Students should be encouraged to use these sheets as a starting point and update/annotate them with any further information as needed. If you find this resource helpful, I would really appreciate a positive review. Equally, if you spot an error or have a suggestion as to how the resource could be improved, that feedback would be gratefully received as well!
