Teacher Shelly's Shop

Average Rating4.28
(based on 17 reviews)

Teaching is my true passion and I love making interesting, interactive resources. I'm a bit of a secondary generalist as I teach English (KS3 and IGCSE), Science (KS3 Science and GCSE Biology), KS3 Humanities and GCSE Environmental Management. I've also dabbled in primary school teaching in the past. As such, my shop is a varied mix of resources! Hope you enjoy looking around. I'm also a google certified educator so will be adding some blog posts and google based lesson ideas on here in time.

Full Term study on Thailand. I developed this for my Stage 8 class as we are doing Thailand for the International Food Fair. I lived in Thailand for 2 years so most of the photos are mine and topics are based on my own experiences. My class really enjoyed this whole unit - they loved learning a bit of Thai and got really enthusiastic about the tasks! There are 9 topics in total and I have included worksheets/notes that cover everything on the Powerpoint so your students won’t need to write anything down. The Powerpoint is not heavy on text as I preferred to project images and diagrams and layer on detail in class discussion but there is more information on the worksheets. Most topics include a build in assessment task (Tasks on the PP and worksheets). The topics are: Introduction to Thailand Language and National Sport (Muay Thai) Festival and festival Culture Buddhism Climate and Weather Brief History of Modern Thailand Food Plants and Animals of Thailand End of Unit Quiz You can make it run longer or short depending on the ability of the class, how often you have Humanities and how much enrichment you add. For example, when we studied Muay Thai, we did a short Muay Thai class for fun. Feel free to email me at shellyschutte20@gmail.com if you want anymore information.

Weather and Climate Project

This is a half term project designed to run simultaneously with a unit on Weather and Climate. Students have to collect data from a school weather station (or alternative) as well as track and make notes of major weather events in their local environment and happening in the news. After a 5 week data collection period, there is a series of straightforward tasks that need to be completed. The task was designed to be used in Krabi, Thailand but can be adapted for any location with minimal effort.

Evaluating an Environmental Disaster

I developed this class for a Year 9 Environmental Sciences class following our unit on ecosystems and interdependence. It's a great task for getting students to discover more about the wider reaching consequences of the disasters they hear about and see on the news.

The Impact of soil on Agriculture (Design a Farm)

Task was developed for my IGCSE Environmental Management Class. Students must imagine that they are farmers applying for a bank loan to purchase a piece of land - must justify why the piece of land is perfect for intended use based on geology and geomorphology of the landscape. Perfect for practical application of knowledge about the impact of soil on agriculture and how this can be manipulated. Cross curricular links with English and as students must use appropriate conventions for a formal letter. Students are also encouraged to include detailed plans/sketches of intended farm.
