This resource includes a PDF version of the programme plus an Adobe version that is editable so that the name of your school/behaviour policy can be incorporated into the documents. The powerpoint presentation is used to test the weekly skills gained by your students and allows you to track progress and build in additional intervention for areas of shortfall post completion. This lesson offers KS5 students a step by step guide to how to approach an essay question and respond to it cogently and effectively ensuring their response is focused and supported. I created this lesson in response to students saying they knew their texts, but weren't sure how to construct them, their written style improved dramatically after delivering this lesson.

This resource would suit teaching for GCSE poetry anthologies or as a guide to approaching Unseen Poetry and would work for both KS3 students and KS4. A tutor/end of term film quiz accessible for seccondary students of all ages/abilities - varied clues including audio and visual slides makes this a fun activity.

Teaching students through creative and engaging methods is at the forefront of my teaching approach. As a GCSE text this secondary teaching resource is a fun way of refreshing knowledge and revising quotations whilst promoting longer term recall. In keeping with the popular Escape Room format, this resource tests and revises student’s knowledge and incorporates use of basic maths and linguistic methods. This GCSE resource asks questions based on the first two chapters of this text and primarily focuses on knowledge of Silas himself before considering themes and contextual issues. This would work really well as both a mid course revision task or a ‘return to school’ hook to tempt any reluctant returners to refocus and engage. This is a wholly inclusive activity that encourages team work and celebrates successes The resources provided include the link to the Escape Room, a powerpoint version of the quiz and an answer guide for the teacher, this combination means that this would work with students who have individual/team laptops and those that rely on the teacher’s laptop for input of answers. This is a sure winner in the classroom. This resource based on an extract from 'The Picture of Dorian Gray' by Oscar Wilde is ideal for use with the Edexcel (9-1) English Language Specification. Due to the shortage of past papers to use in the classroom I have constructed this paper for use by teachers using this specification. These resources introduce students to the themes contained in this text, explores the characterisation of Silas Marner and uses some engaging kinaesthetic activities (Human Weaving Machine and Court Room) to capture the imaginations of students who might find studying 19th century fiction more difficult. Chapter 2 is also included here and concentrates predominantly on teaching students 'how to' analyse extracts at GCSE level. This assembly uses music, interesting facts about New Year, an inclusive ‘hands up’ activity and challenges students to adapt their approach to setting new year’s resolutions and instead aim to be more reflective and make changes all the time to ensure they achieve successes in their education, personal and emotional lives. This assembly draws on facts that traverse a range of cultures and is overtly linked to the SMSC agenda. This would be a perfect assembly to use as a first assembly back in 2020 and will save you thinking/planning time over the festive season.

This resource is fully differentiated, includes assessment with a DIRT task, close textual analysis modelled using PETAL and then supported with prompt questions, a fun wordsearch and some high order thinking tasks. This lesson is engaging, progressive and fun and offers a detailed study of both the language used in this text and the structure within these chapters and of these chapters as part of the whole novel.
