B2,C2,P2 Quiz Exam prep Last minute recap

(0)
Question of sport number round style Quiz. Answer 3 key points from each topic image. People tend to recall facts and key information in 3's so it promotes memory. Can also be carried out as a test where students will not see the answers (using the test version included in this sale). The students could then self assess using thee quiz version.

C1 Mind Map and Flip cards Last minute revision

(0)
Topic identifiers and thought provoking images. Use for Edexcel C1 topic. Designed to be printed on A3 paper. Print flip cards on A4 paper backed up (check alignment on first copy). Students cut these out and test themselves and others. Students must start again if they make a mistake (this aids recall). The final flip cards are blank for higher level learners to suggest the questions to the answers provided.

Exam revision activity Edexcel C1 Flip Cards Differentiated and Extension

(0)
Flip cards to promote memory recall of the C1 chemistry topic. Ideal preparation for spotting areas of weakness and independent guided study. Students line out the cards and answer the question flipping the card to check the answer. Students MUST return to the start if they get the answer wrong (this is key to consolidating prior learning). Slide 3 is an extension activity where students come up with the questions to the answers provided. PRINT ONE COPY of slides 1-2 on both sides of A4. CHECK THAT THE BOXES LINE UP and adjust if required by moving one of the tables accordingly. Now print your class set and let the kids cut them out because this ensures a calm start to the lesson.
Elements to Atoms and the Periodic Table

Elements to Atoms and the Periodic Table

(2)
2-3 engaging lessons that make learning the periodic table more accessible. Ideal for low to middle ability groups. Students begin with finding the location of elements in the periodic table using the grid references (print 2 slides per sheet to keep costs low and have couple of examples of elements to hand - Zinc, Copper, Carbon, Aluminium). Students then learn about the structure of atoms and link this to the layout of the periodic table. Students finish by drawing atoms and consolidating learning through a game of Atom Trumps.

Plastic debate - Persuasive writing and Science investigation

(1)
Cross curricular activity involving English persuasive writing, comprehension, scientific investigation and data analysis skills. Students will debate the use of plastic packaging. Both sides of the argument are presented and the teacher can decide if they choose. Ideal for cross curricular (also citizenship and fund raising) or even a one off cover lesson. Requires printing of colour data sheets (3 A4 per group). Supporting PowerPoint with prompts. Lesson plan. All proceeds will go towards The War on Plastic fund:
Edexcel Physics Paper 1 2019 Assessment
TommyC82TommyC82

Edexcel Physics Paper 1 2019 Assessment

(0)
A Microsoft PowerPoint multiple choice style assessment covering the Edexcel Paper 1 Physics 2019. The assessment identifies gaps in knowledge and topics of weakness. Self marking and automatic feedback (you must enable macros when prompted). I have included the Questions and answers in case you have technical problems or want them to do this in a cover lesson (answers for non specialist). Also printing function allowing students to name and print the feedback. See Chemistry assessment here. Biology coming soon.
Ionic and Covalent Bonding Presentation and Worksheet

Ionic and Covalent Bonding Presentation and Worksheet

(0)
Introduce ionic and covalent bonding using the animated PowerPoint. Get students to explain what is happening at each stage. Worksheet challenges students to recall electron arrangements for atoms and identify products of reactions. Finally students identify the type of bond formed. As an extension, students could give their own examples. This lesson should follow an introduction to atomic structure.

Thinking Scientifically - Controlled Assessment practise - Control Variable, Conclusion, Evaluation

(0)
Practise a controlled assessment or practical in a fun and engaging way. Simple activity requiring effervescent tablets, balances, conical flask, rubber bungs and water. The worksheet encourages students to reflect on method and use data to support a conclusion. Students will identify equipment, control variables and write a method (hint sheet provided). Refer to slide 1 for lesson plan.
Biofuel Debate
TommyC82TommyC82

Biofuel Debate

(0)
Students research factors for or against using regular cooking oil as a fuel source. Students present their findings to the group and the teacher is able to monitor any changes in attitude during the course of the lesson. Resources are accessible and presented using familiar scientific formats.
pH Scale Acid and Base activity

pH Scale Acid and Base activity

(0)
Perform the pH practical activity to test the suggested chemicals and / or display slide 3 for those that you cannot test. Print slide 2 for students who must colour the pH scale and place the chemicals alongside the periodic table. As a plenary ask students to record which chemicals will neutralise each other (e.g. wasp sting --> Bee Sting).

Thinking Scientifically - Controlled Assessment practise - Control Variable, Conclusion, Evaluation

(0)
Practise a controlled assessment or practical in a fun and engaging way. Simple activity requiring a kettle, ice, boiling tubes, large beakers, salt, water, stop watch and thermometers. The worksheet encourages students to reflect on writing the method and using data to support the conclusion. Students will identify equipment, control variables and write a method (hint sheet provided). Refer to slide 1 for lesson plan.

Simple Combustion practical - Easy to resource

(0)
A PowerPoint with supporting instructions, starter and extension activities. Best if you use tealight candles. Encourages students to consider variables and to make accurate measurements. Students draw a graph to show their results. If students are difficult to motivate then ask them to estimate how long a candle would last in a specific volume (i.e. 300ml beaker) which they will have to produce a graph to extrapolate or interpolate to find this out. You could test a 300ml beaker at the end to test this. The extension activity promotes higher level scientific thought. It is unknown if the carbon dioxide smothers the candle or if the oxygen runs out first. Most students will say the taller candle as this will last longer!

AQA Trilogy Chemistry Assessment Auto Feedback / Marking

(0)
A PowerPoint based multiple choice assessment for AQA Trilogy Combined GCSE. Best used where ICT is available. Students complete 50 multiple choice questions and if macros have been enabled (students are prompted to do this) the assessment will mark itself and give detailed feedback on topics of weakness and areas for development. The feedback can be easily printed (slide 52) and students can perform research on the suggested topics. I have included a paper copy of the quiz in case the computers let you down or this is a cover lesson. See the whole set (Chemistry, Biology, Physics) as a bundle: <a href=“https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/aqa-science-trilogy-assessment-bundle-biology-chemistry-physics-11973736?theme=0”>HERE</a> I hope you enjoy it, please leave feedback if you do.
Emulsion Practical Activity

Emulsion Practical Activity

(0)
Students will learn to give examples of emulsions and will perform a practical activity to determine the best agents to create an emulsion. Basic ingredients needed and could be performed in plastic cups (test tubes are best). The worksheet allows students to structure their research and also self assess it at the end.
